    HELP! Pop-up Flash not Functioning

    I just found out last night that the pop up flash of my cam doesn't work anymore.. it won't open at all. i tried it in Manual, AV, TV and Auto mode but still doesn't work. I spent quite amount of time at the menu settings but couldn't resolve it. I'm suspecting my Yongnuo 468 to be the cause of it.

    Does anyone have the same experience?
    Is there a proper way like switching off both before attaching / detaching the flash from the camera?

    this is what it was saying when i tried to access the Built-in flash function setting. "This menu cannot be displayed. External flash is attached." (Oviously there is no external flash attached to the cam.)

    My cam is fine now. Google helped a lot.

    i was about to say that there might be something stuck on the hot shoe contacts as i have a friend who encountered the same problem. the thing is, he is also using a yongnuo flash. hmmm...

    the same thing is happening to my 550...tried it and flash pops up but not all the way....i can live with it since i dont use it much...but i needed it this afternoon and the thing wont pop up...grrr
    eos 550d(gripped) with kit lens(fecked)repaired by canon, eos 7d(gripped)
    70-200 f2.8L IS ii USM, sigma 12 24 dg ex hsm (mistake #1) nifty fifty, 24-70L f2.8, 100 mm L f2.8 macro
    cheapo tripod with spindly legs, jusino tripod
    Cyber-Tik flash , uwa/macro converter, cheap chinese remote control

    same thing happen to me, Same camera model, same Flash model
    the difference is, I send it to Canon and they fixed it for Free.

    Im just curious, how did they fixed it? i mean did they do something so that it wont get stuck again or just the same thing as the DIY remedy that i found on the net?

    This happened to my camera also, I just pry out the tiny external flash switch with a toothpick. Problem fixed.
