nikon F80 lens error

Does anyone owns a F80 here?
I have a problem with camera. I get a error messag everytime I mount my lens.
I got a nikkor 28-100mm G.

AFAIK, non aperture ring lens have limited use with the older nikon film cameras.

There is no aperture ring on the lens. What confuses me is that I just recently used it on my camera.

then the electronic contact of your G lens is not compatible with the F80. try using AF-D lens see if you get the same message.

try cleaning the lens contacts
remove the batteries and lens
put everything back in

(?) might work

if its anything like my old F60 .. the lens should work irregardless whether it has an aperture ring or not
(my F60 had a 28-80 G type lens)

I tried my friends lens(18-55mm nikkor) on my cam and it is working with no Err message.
My lens also work with his camera, without the AF.
