    nothing was wrong with it but it was the transitional camera from the days of being manual to full electronic. it was in between the f3(manual) and f5(electronic) and had the shortest life amongst nikon's top of the line bodies. it could be just a superstition with the #4 being unlucky in asian countries (like the #13 for the west.)
