Hello guys newbie here, bought the NEX 5 to upgrade from my point and shoot basic oldie 5 mp camera.
Just some newbie questions:
a. where can I get the firmware upgrade version 3?
b. tips to shooting in low light conditions? Sports? Portrait where the background is faded or blurred (ano nga term nun?)
3. all other tips appreciated!
Salamat from down under!
Cheers!
Firmware updates are available at the Sony website.
The NEX5 is an awesome camera. To maximize its potentials as well as your own as a photographer, I suggest you enroll in a good basic photography course or at least grab a good basic photography book. That way, you will learn in a structured way.
You were referring to "shallow depth of field".

Here's the proper definiton of Bokeh: Bokeh is a Japanese word that refers to the quality of out of focus blurring resulting from a particular lens. Please note: you cannot “add bokeh” or “have more bokeh” as bokeh is a subjective qualitative term in regards to the lens, not a quantitative term in regards to a photograph.
The blurred background in itself is not Bokeh because bokeh refers not the blur but to the perceived quality of the blur.
Salamat sa explanation ng Bokeh. I was able to update my firmware from version 2 to Version 3. I was also able to update the PB software. It took awhile to download it :-) Now I can take my time learning.
I am attending a party tonight, so mostly indoors. Shoud I alternate between handheld twilight, nightview and night portrait options?
Any experiences you guys would like to share in indoor and low light outdoor shots with this particular U-beaut camera?
I am reading a lot of the reviews and it seems even for enthusiasts in SLR, the NEX 5 is capable. That is, if the new set up/user interface is ok to the SLR afficionados. I also read that the PASM modes are ok for a camera this size.
