As far as i know, "the darkside" was coined by Pinoys... started out during the release of the D80 wherein a lot of Canon users shifted to Nikon - thus "shifting" to the darkside... ala Star Wars' Anakin Skywalker
Use that term anywhere else outside of the Philippines and they'll give you an odd look!
