We bought ours in HK but I don't have the contact info with me right now. There are also places in NY. At home, there are some but they don't look as real as the ones available in HK. For artificial ice cream - it's a combination of confectioners' sugar, Karo syrup and Crisco lard. You would have to experiment on the proportions and most importantly, on styling. We prefer to hire a food stylist - try Patrick Gutierrez, Linda Floro or Eugene Raymundo - to prepare and style artificial ice creams for us. Lydia Go was the first to do this but she only works with her photographer-son. You'd be better off hiring anyone of the three other stylists. Check with other foodstylists - more and more of them can do artificial ice creams now. There is a book on Food Styling and Photography (or is it Photography and Food Styling?). It contains a lot of tips, including contact infos of suppliers and stores selling props like fake ice cubes. Try googling.:) Noli_Gabilo 11-12-2007, 01:57 AM Does anyone of you guys know where to buy fake Ice cubes and other sorts of food photography props we can use? Thanks! Hi Mike, Try to get in touch with Kenneth Santillan (knethsan@yahoo.com.au). He makes fake ice cubes and other props for photography. He makes realistic backgrounds and period props out of fiberglass and resin (jeepneys, fire hydrants, costumes) for still photography and the movies as well. Hope this helps. mikedelrosario 11-12-2007, 09:06 AM Hi guys, thanks for your help. Actually I'm not shooting for fee yet.. I am still practicing product photography and on the process of building my own porffolio. Now, my problem is how to get started with food photography. Except for beverages and food from take out counters, I cant produce mouth watering photographs without the help of a chef and a stylist. And I don't think I can afford enough to build my own food portfolio. |
