Hi Guys,

I just wanted to try the librodo-dragan action to some of my bridal portraits for testing. Not sure if the bride would like the contrasty look. What do you think? Thanks

Not sure if its that flattering to the bride... People tend to see dragan as being too edgey, for weddings they tend to look for the classical approach....

I think I'd agree with Sir Melvin here. I think people (brides, especially), would want to see themselves in soft, glamor shots.

Just my 2 cents. :)

I personally wouldn't use them for bridal portraits but I am sure that you could use the effect for other moments taken. I am sure that it would look awesome on images with lots of texture. do try the move on a different image and lets see what you can come up with...curious myself :)

Hi Ma'am Pilar,

Thanks for the tip Ill try it on some environmental shots or details. I like how the action gives the eyes a nice pop but yeah it also accentuates the blemishes as well hehe.

Thanks for all the input guys, I really appreciate it. I do have all those soft and glamorous photos as well and yes they are all really nice, but it is used a lot also.

I think it is also our role as artists to break the mold and push the envelope sometimes and see what we get.

I agree this is a bit on the extreme part, ma'am pilar is correct. That is might work on textures and maybe environmental shots.

So thanks again for sharing your thoughts on this

i like the first photo..something different

but for the second the PP doesn't give a flattering image of the bride...you can also see too many blemishes on her skin which i don't think she would like

Some more suggestions:

Top photo: Since the bride was looking at her bouquet, it would have been better if the bouquet was also captured sharply.

Bottom photo: It would have been better if her right eye wasn't partially covered by her veil.

Excellent effort though. Good luck!:)

This effect has been getting popular with wedding pictorials esp with the "Trash the Dress" theme.

Very Edgy. But I think the PP effect should coincide with your posing technique. Try it on some unusal/edgy poses.

I agree. Try to continue or expand your attempt, for all you know, you might hit something big. Based on the image provided, the effect was used just for the sake of using it. It doesn't affect us much.

To rephrase Bordoy, an edgy effect might work well with edgy pose or moment.

You have to remember also that most brides spend a lot on make-up artist and wedding dresses just to conform to the usual definition of beauty. The Dragan effect is quite opposite of that -thus, you may be using a wrong technique for the wrong subject.

Continue to experiment and when you meet an edgy couple, you have an edge over us. :)
