Hi all. I am new here though I had the chance to met guys from yesterday's "photo shoot" at longos (coastal road area). my friend here norman aquino invited me since I am seriously considering photography as a hobby..

anyways, im still in the process of reviewing brands of dslr cameras and I am torn between Olympus E330 and Nikon D80...although Norman has given informative insights it would be great to hear from your recommendations and comments. Thank you guys in advance.

Hi Red,
Well it all depends on what you are going to shoot actually.
Since I came from Sony F717 and I really like the flexible LCD screen on it, I decided to get the E330. I do mostly travel photogs since I love to travel and eventually considering other style like wedding, portraits, sports etc. With the flexible lcd on E330 its not hard to get those angle shots that other cameras cannot get. And I know some says dust on your sensor is not a main issue, but for me it is.. and thats another factor why I decided to buy an Oly system bec of their dust removal system (other cameras having this featulre are Sony Alpha, L1 and canon also have it now with the release of 400D).

I prefer Nikon D80 than the canon 400D, for me 400D is like 350D with a larger LCD screen.

But still the bottomline is.... ask yourself what kind of photography you really wanted.. and best of all go to a camera shop and test both cameras you would like to use, from there I bet you can make a decision.

Good luck !!!

Thanks John

I am into export trading and perhaps eventually will be dealing with a lot of product shoots however, I need a camera that will "maybe" do all the job...a wishful thinking perhaps..haha... but I am seriously considering Oly since it has dust removal system. I am inclined to get E330 unless some serious comments will come up...though I must say that Nikon D80 is quite at par...Will do that better to try them first....thanks alot...

Hi Red,

If your looking for a camera that could do all the job you require you may also need to study if you need to collect some lenses for your camera body. Availability of the lenses is also one thing to consider.
