I might as well start this one a bit earlier than usual. Issue 04 has yet to hit the newsstands but we need to get off to a quick start for our October issue. Okay here are the topics:

1) Shooting Stage- we announced this for September photo submission and didn't use any of them. We are going to use Stage photos for the October issue. Those who posted for September, you dont need to re-post because we can choose your photos from there.

2) Weather Photography- Lightning photos (if you got those) would be nice. Pretty broad but anything to do with photographing the weather.

The Photo Gallery site for this will be set up soon so please stay tuned. If you have any questions, please post and we will respond quickly.

how long does an entry get approved? and does an entry get denied?

Nick Tuason

Francis,

This is not so much like a photo contest but more as a way of showcasing the talents of our readers and forum members. No set rules on what images we choose. Normally if we like what we see on the Photo Gallery here, we contact you and ask to see your original hi-res file. If it looks good in our computers, we will probably print it. If it doesn't, we may choose not to use it because we don't want to sacrifice print quality.

Again, no set rules. If weather photography turns out too little entries we may just shelve it for a later issue. Stage photography for Issue 05, we will probably use in an article rather than in a Readers' Gallery.

Thanks Nick,
Since it was my first time to post an entry in the gallery, i thought my entry was denied, because it took several days before it was visible in the gallery. Now i saw it is there already. Thanks so much...

One more question... last month, we saw a lot of dusk and dawn shots with lots of clouds also... this month, when you say weather photography, pictures of clouds would still be valid for an entry right?

-Francis

Hi Francis,

This may not be an easy topic for most to photograph. Most naturally you will have clouds in weather photography so please post your photos. Some photogs may be scared to shoot weather because they are thinking about their gear, however, some of the most unique photography opportunities can happen during a storm or right after. Anyway, let your creative juices flow and goodl luck.

The October gallery says that there are 26 photo entries but I can only see 9. The last post was two days ago. When will the gallery be updated?

What does "A boy and his bird" have to do with "weather photography" and "shooting stage" in the October issue?

We knew that shooting stage and weather photography was going to be difficult for most. The gallery is now closed for Issue 05. We don't know if we have enough photos to actually use for either the article or readers gallery. So lets look forward to November Issue 06 instead.

DPP not i-mag ;-)

I'm glad everything turned out silent in Flickr. Don't mind them.

In any case, you don't need to be a subscriber to join the monthly entries (yet)...
