I'm currently thinking of getting either:

1. Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Photographers: A Professional Image Editor's Guide to the Creative use of Photoshop for the Macintosh and PC (Paperback)
by Martin Evening (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/105-8778571-0667617?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Martin%20Evening) (Author)

or

2. Adobe Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital Photographers (Voices That Matter) (Paperback)
by Scott Kelby (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/105-8778571-0667617?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Scott%20Kelby) (Author)

So far, the first book looks like a better buy in terms of how the topics are presented.

Appreciate any help on this. Or you may have other suggestions?

Cheers!

if you want pragmatic tips you can use right away, go for scott kelby.

if you want an in-depth explanation of the workflow, thy "whys" as well as the "hows," go for martin evening.

funny, nino c. was discussing this last night after the canon print like a pro. :)

Thanks Jay.

Martin Evening concretely explains the technical background of the tools, sliders and effects of both PSCS3 and Lightroom. I've read his two books and have pretty much learned a whole lot over Scott Kelby's.

Scott Kelby however is a fast-track way of learning Photoshop and Lightroom. It just tells you steps to follow but not much explaination as to why it happens or how it happens. It's basically a step by step tutorial of learning Photoshop.

As I have mentioned to Norman Aquino last night, the Martin Evening books are pretty much solid. You might also want to try Ben Wilmore's Photoshop CS3 books. He's good also.
