1. ND filter effect c/o Bart Hickman

This is such a cool mode. I've been using it with auto EV adjust enabled so that it essentially becomes a handy way of averaging 2-9 successive shots together. Basically allows cheapskates like me to not have to carry an ND filter for this type of photography.

Here's a waterfall shot I took today (just a small creek near my house). It's 9 shots each 1s shutter for a total of 9s (K10d combines them into a single RAW.) I could never get 9s in this situation w/o an ND filter or w/o getting up at 7am when the light is low.

2. Median Noise Reduction effect c/o Lock

And it works. Flawless. Must have me being too tired to do anything right yesterday, but now I can show you the difference (see below). Btw, this is noise test.

Don't bother the WB. I did not change anything but a histogram correction (max level PPL was 190). Iso 1600, F11, 0.8 sec 70 mm on a Sigma 17-70.

First the single frame:

Now the one with four frames:

Btw, first set it to the 2 sec timer, than set multi exposure, and you only need a simple support in stead of a tripod. Now that's the cleanest ISO1600 image I've seen! :D

3. Repeating Patterns by Bob West (Thanks to Jay Jallorina for pointing this out)

Also, see this die hard Pentaxian's amazing star trail gallery http://www.flickr.com/photos/bob_west/1512294024/

4. Overlay effects

I shot the plane wide then I zoomed into the moon and shot it as a second exposure which the camera automatically combined. Added a B&W digital filter with the red setting in-camera. Adjusted levels in Photoshop.

I was just telling Ansbert about this last Sat. Randall. Since you guys go treking a lot, maybe you ca use this the next time you encounter a water fall. This technique should also be interesting to use for street shots. I already tried this at home taking shots of my so's school bag at different locations within the frame - ended up wtih ghost figures of the bag.:)

This is interesting! TFS Randall!

I am hoping Pentax releases a firmware that enables the 3fps shooting mode in multiple exposure mode (it currently shoots 1 shot every 2-3 seconds at that setting), and enabling the 3-5 shot auto-bracketing also under multiple exposure mode (there are workarounds to this like #1 in Randall's example) - like an automated/in-camera HDR.

Exactly what I was thinking Chelo.
