View Full Version : 50mm 1.8 OM Zuiko Test shots
Elvin de Guzman 08-29-2006, 09:49 PM Just want to share some of my test shot of this great lens, I love the color output of this lens, I'm shooting at ISO 800, f1.8 and shutter at 1/40 and I'm satisfied with the output, I'm newbie here how come when i'm using my kit lens 14-55mm, the noise seems to be a little harsh compare to this lens? Is it because this lens is much brighter compare to the kit lens?

By the way I notice some of my shots have some blue spot, is that dust on my lens? or it's just because i'm using iso 800, only few of my shot have this blue spot, what could be causing it? here's a sample shot with a blue spot:

See the blue spot on the white shirt.
ei! how come when I add an image it's being converted into a link? cheers!!
JonDexterTan 08-29-2006, 10:03 PM hi elvin! :D what evolt body are you using again? i noticed with our noisy e cams that the more light the photos has, the less visible noise is... or is it true to all digital cameras as I've read somewhere than noise hides in the shadows (or darker areas of the photo) so kung mas darker photo, mas visible noise (i think). i love the 14-45mm kit lens, but I can't deny the OM 50mm's wonderful bokeh (though I've used the f1.4 version) and sharpness.
weird thing, the E-500 has a constant blue line using the 50mm f1.4, while i notice non on the E-1. and it:s not there with ZD lenses. even with the OM 28mm there's no blue line too, only with the 50mm. anyhoo, could be burned pixels on your image.

Francis Tuason 08-29-2006, 10:37 PM Hi elvin,
i think posting pics hosted on multiply doesn't work somehow... try to use other sites like photobucket.

Thanks I'm using a e500 for the body, the weird thing about it is not all pictures have this blue spot, actually when I looked at the lens i saw a tiny dust there, is there a shop that do lens cleaning? any idea how much does a cleaning cost?
Tok Paler 08-29-2006, 11:28 PM it looks like a flare our ghosting of some sort... not sure though...
do you have any other pics that has the blue spot on them? =)

I think out 25 shots i got 3 of them with blue spots, one of them was actually on the eye of my friend
Tok Paler 08-29-2006, 11:43 PM did they have that sort of lighting as the last photo? =)
the blue spot seems to have a blue streak extending towards the right shoulder...
can you post one of them? =)

Tok Paler 08-30-2006, 01:32 AM from what i can see, it looks like lens flare. =) i don't think there's anything to worry about IMO. =)
Lens flare's are just basically light being scattered inside your lens via the different elements inside them FYI =)
Hope that helps =)
Randy_Rivera 08-30-2006, 06:21 PM yup i agree with tok, it looks like a lens flare, this also happens with some of my shots, maybe you can try removing the filter (if you have them on)
