Richmon_De_Jesus 09-30-2007, 12:59 AM Sir Aly and to other organizers, pls accept my appologies for not able to come. I live in Malabon and it's very hard to get out of here specially if its raining hard, I was planning to catch up and be late. however, I don't have any contact number of any of the other participants except for Jed Llamas, which didn't make it as well. I'm sure you guys had a great day. I feel so guilty for not comming :( hope to see the other guys post thier shots soon! SOBRANG NKAKA INGGIT! (trans: Damn rain!)

jerrytieng 09-30-2007, 08:34 AM We should have another filmEB-cum-Ongpin-food-trip! I missed the kwentuhan yesterday! What with so many legendary Nikons on display! I spotted the venerable F2, the minimalist FM2, the revolutionary F3 (the D3 of it's day), the F100, and the F5! I'm so bad with names but I remember the faces attached to each one of them Nikons! :)

I second the motion re: the food trip, I did get to spot a few early and still nice models of Pentax, minolta, and other 'panas' but then again, I find the 'indians' more interesting!:D

Thanks, Donna!! Btw, do you know you're very much part of this Indian-Pana Challenge? Didn't Cez tell you that you are one of the judges? Most probably we will put up a multiply account for the entries and you select your favorites.:Dum::)
Miguel Vecin 09-30-2007, 10:38 AM Aly - any more pictures you can post?
jerrytieng 09-30-2007, 01:05 PM Ahh.. so that was Jun -- he had the F2 with him. THE Nikon that created many legends during the Vietnam era.
jerrytieng 09-30-2007, 01:08 PM Sige, let's do it on a Saturday again. This time, kwentuhan and food-tripping. Let's start with early dimsum, then mid-morning noodles, then Savory chicken, then..
The rules are:
a. bring your vintage
b. share a bowl with 2 others (so there's room for more)
c. be early so we end early and have time for the rest of the family back in the teepee

great EB guys! =)
hey tok,
i think we've permanently scarred joel for life. he was hyperventilating, shaking like a leaf, mumbling to himself and had goosebumps on his goosebumps the whole time. he said it's criminal to give him a 27-exposure disposable when he's used to shooting at 50 frames per minute. he dutifully glanced at the back of his plastic film camera every time he made an exposure just to confirm that he got the shot. he only calmed down when we assured him he's getting 10 orders of dimsum and a yang chow fried rice. poor kid, he's seeing a shrink on monday..

-I recall what Sir Basil told me...i dont want to go back in FILM again...:D

Derick_Gamboa 10-01-2007, 11:28 AM Here's the beauty of film.
I used a light meter to get a reading of the mother and daughter. Then estimated their distance based on reading indicated in the lens and meter settings. Using the hyper-focal technique, film brought out two contrasting tones, maintaining details on both with having to blow-out or under-expose either of my subjects.
If I had used the in camera metering, it would have given me extreme readings depending on which subject I focused on.

While ''digital is here to stay,'' Usher expects film's fortunes will
someday brighten once more.
'Film by its very physical nature is layers of grains of different
colors,'' he said. ''It's hard to describe, but it does actually have a
micro three-dimensionality that you can see in that weird way.''
''In fact, now that the honeymoon and the infatuation is starting to run its
course,'' he said, ''I think that in the next five years you're going to see
almost a retro backlash because of the things that film gives you that you
can't get with digital.''

Just kidding bossing!:D
Keep it up.
Thank you for the kind words, sir! The EOS 66 definitely helped though, it's a pretty straight forward film SLR to use.
Derick_Gamboa 10-01-2007, 07:10 PM I would just like to confirm if there's another one this Saturday? A little birdy told me that another shoot is in the planning stage? :)

Anton Lorenzo 10-03-2007, 03:16 PM You might be right. I did not check the negatives before I left. Can digiprint process Tri X film?
They look like scratches. I heard kasi that some people were not happy with Studio 58 processing and some people complained about scratched negatives...
bernard billedo 10-03-2007, 03:24 PM Thank you Joel. I still need to check everything. It might be my camara scratching the film.
The scratches in your photos aren't consistent with the camera scratching the film. Film back scratches usually appear continuously along a roll of film. It's either the film processing or scanning. If you have a film scanner you can rescan these with Digital ICE (dust and scratch removal) turned on to get rid of the scratches.
Anton Lorenzo 10-03-2007, 03:28 PM Thanks Bernard. I don't have a film scanner, I just have it done at commercial labs. I will try other labs with my remaining roll of Tri X and see if the scratches persist.
Paeng Bonafe 10-03-2007, 04:37 PM hi anton, DPI studio in ortigas has Digital ICE scanners. you may want to try them :D
Anton Lorenzo 10-03-2007, 04:44 PM Oh yeah! I forgot about DPI. Thanks Paeng
Derick_Gamboa 10-03-2007, 04:44 PM Anton, I like your set!!! The nostalgia of film with the scratches still is ok for my taste. Bravo!!:)
Tok Paler 10-03-2007, 05:17 PM Great set there Anton! =)
you can't capture that kind of tone on a digital camera and convert it to b/w.. plus the grain! =D real nice! =)
