Galing Romy. :) There's really something therapeutic with birding...

Thanks, guys.

Just to give non-birders an idea why we birdnuts don't seem to have enough mm's, the shooting distance for this one was about 20 feet. I was shooting at 700 mm, and that's about 1120 mm angle of view with the 20D.

Still, the tiny bird (4-1/4" from tip of tail to tip of bill) didn't quite fill the frame. I couldn't get closer anymore for fear of spooking it....:)

Here's the full frame of the shot, resized to 600x400:

As usual, fantastic capture Romy. I haven't been very lucky with my Munia shots. I haven't gotten close enough to get good details. :P

Wonderful shot as always Romy. Munias are kinda hard to capture kasi they scare easily. I was so lucky to take a few shots this morning though during the bird walk with sila Mike, other WBCP members and the Ateneo Environmental Law students ... yun nga lang I still haven't viewed the outcome of my shots ... HEhEHhEHEhHEhe

Thanks, everybody...:)

TJ, they're easy to approach at UP-Diliman. There are only a few clumps of tall grass which they prefer to feed on or get nesting materials from (PropJerry is the resident authority on the good spots) .

What I do is set up my tripod near a productive grass stand, and wait motionlessly for them to arrive. I maintain some distance (20 feet or farther) so as not to scare them. You can also use your vehicle as a blind when you see them perched along the road.

Surely! I'll try to organize a UP Diliman guided birding trip with Propjerry so those interested in bird photography can get their beaks wet.

Galing-galing naman. I think I had a similar capture (just the bird type, I'll take a look) from my Malaysian birding last year using a prosumer beside the hotel grounds.
cheers,
