Romy Ocon 08-24-2006, 03:03 PM Great captures again, Tina... and apt environment for the Guaiabero!
The Guaiabero is named as such because it's fond of eating guavas.

@ Tina
curious to know what sort of lens is needed for this type of shoot? ty
tina mallari 08-24-2006, 03:08 PM Thanks a lot Romy. Wow, I never knew that !!! Kaya pala there was one Guaiabero that I took a photo of that finished a whole guava and stuffed it all inside it's mouth and it looked like it had bumps all over it's face.
Saw a group of Blue-naped parrots too that was on a huge guava tree and they were there on the two days that I went to that area of Subic.
tina mallari 08-24-2006, 03:13 PM Hi Tony :)
I use an EF 400mm f/5.6L + a 1.4x Tamron TC. I mostly shoot handheld and this is quite heavy na for me.
Reyno Rosete 08-24-2006, 10:00 PM Excellent captures Tina. Yes, these kinds of glasses do tend to get heavier after awhile.
tina mallari 08-24-2006, 11:04 PM Thanks a lot Reyno :)

Thanks, Tina. You have beautiful bird pics and I may come around to that down the road...:)
tina mallari 08-25-2006, 10:34 AM Thanks a lot too, Tony :)
Earl Gonzalez 08-25-2006, 10:49 AM Hi Tina, Loved the King Fisher pic. :)
tina mallari 08-25-2006, 11:17 AM Thanks a lot Earl. That kingfisher gave me a wonderful show after I saw it taking a dip in a pool of water. It flew to a branch and spread out it's wings to dry it up - It was my first time ever to see a kingfisher do that so you can just imagine what a special treat it was for me :)
Jimmy Rosaria 08-26-2006, 06:15 AM nice shot tina...

tina mallari 08-26-2006, 08:48 AM Thanks a lot Jimmy and Gil. Before I got into bird photography, I also thought maya at pigeon lang ang meron tayo
At least now, when you come for a visit sa Phils., you have something else to look forward to - bird photography !!!!
tj_parpan 08-27-2006, 02:09 PM Just saw these now. Great pics Tina! I have yet to go birding in Subic.
tina mallari 08-27-2006, 11:12 PM Thanks a lot TJ. Naku you have to go to Subic TJ. You will see so many wonderful birds in the wild just by stopping along the roads where there are a lot of trees. I have never ever regretted a trip to subic because every single visit allows me to capture lots of wonderful bird photos.
BTW, we are planning a trip to Mt. Palay-palay this coming weekend. I know you've been wanting to go there. Are you free this coming weekend ?
tina mallari 03-11-2008, 04:16 AM It's bee-eater season in Subic again. Here are a couple of captures taken recently.
