Winthrop Banez 09-01-2007, 06:46 PM Really? That's good news!!! Do they still allow 0% installment for 6 to 12 months?
Thanks for the news!
ryanhayudini 09-01-2007, 07:14 PM Winthrop - its only 6mos. yet still... very tempting... almost gave in hehehe
marcelo chan 09-01-2007, 09:10 PM Do they have a price for the 200-500mm 2.8? cause I'm gonna buy 2 units this christmas. Bwahahaha..
Alan Sevilla 09-01-2007, 10:15 PM Now we dont need to source sigma lenses abroad since price is competitive. Great job by Jt!!!! Thanks for the heads up Ryan!!

Yes, prices on some lenses are just 2 or 3 thousand difference from abroad but some are still almost P10T. Yet that is the price you pay for warranty and a 0% for 6mos. :D
Spam Jalandoni 09-02-2007, 02:08 PM wow.... tempting indeed... now to look for cash :D hehehehehhehehe
ryan - did you get the 70-200 2.8?
ryanhayudini 09-02-2007, 02:39 PM Spam not yet but really considering it. Gotta love that lens. If I still have some cash after the tuition of my son at zobel hehehe. Unless you wanna part w/ yours anytime soon?
Spam Jalandoni 09-02-2007, 02:54 PM heheheheehhehe no plans of parting yet with my baby :D hehehehe planning to get a sigma telecon for the lens :D it's less 1k na :D now to think about it heheheehhe
paul chua 09-02-2007, 04:34 PM Nice job JT photo world!!:D Maybe its even lower in Photoworld manila 2008!!!
ryanhayudini 09-02-2007, 05:09 PM heheheheehhehe no plans of parting yet with my baby :D hehehehe planning to get a sigma telecon for the lens :D it's less 1k na :D now to think about it heheheehhe
I thought so
Some say that the new 70-200 HSM have problems w/ its AF. Some get them dead out of the box and AF tends to die when outside temps are high. Any experience like this spam?
One of the 70-200 I tested didn't AF but the 2nd was a stunner. Tempted really tempted. Love the wieght just wished it had OS.
Winthrop Banez 09-02-2007, 05:31 PM Are they also marking down their other products? Tamrac, etc.?
Spam Jalandoni 09-02-2007, 07:20 PM I thought so

haven't had problems with my 70-200. the only problem that i have right now is the paint is starting to chip off, but the lens works like a gem :D
i'm quite of with the lens not having OS, though it would be a nice addition though :D hehehehehe right now, i use the lens as a portrait lens, creamy bokeh for my taste:)
i'll just add the telecon so that longer focal range for the lens :D good thing the telecon will make the lens AF :D
dindo panganiban 09-02-2007, 08:25 PM wow!!! thanks for the update, bro!
aaronroselo 09-02-2007, 10:37 PM this might be a bit ot, but what does HSM mean?
Spam Jalandoni 09-02-2007, 11:50 PM hsm means, hyper sonic motor, it's the equivalent of the swm or silent wave motor for nikon :D bottomline is that both hsm and swm makes focusing silent :D sorry dunno what the canon conterpart is :D nikon eh :D hehehehe
aaronroselo 09-03-2007, 12:08 AM ahh, got it. so that's the only difference from the cheaper version of the lens or is there anything else?
ryanhayudini 09-03-2007, 09:19 AM ahh, got it. so that's the only difference from the cheaper version of the lens or is there anything else?
Faster AF and it will work on a D40 and D40x and I think (not sure) that the lens coating is different on the HSM models since its the newer version
Spam - Let me know the outcome of a teleconverter (2x?) on the 70-200 since I want a 400 focal range also. I think that Sigma is notorious for paint chip offs. Considering this since I have a D40x (w/c I gave to my GF kuno ) and not the nikkor 80-200. I have been having sleepless nights because of this lens :D

the non hsm version of the 70-200 will not AF with the d40/x because it doesn't have HSM :D

ryanhayudini 09-03-2007, 03:18 PM Spam - I have a D80 and a D40x (w/c I gave to my GF and as my 2nd body hehehe). Just called JT and begged them for a 12mos. 0% but to no avail!!! Kainis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta work to feed this hunger for a 70-200 2.8 hehehe
jaysonllavore 09-03-2007, 03:29 PM Has anyone tried the 28-70mm 2.8-4 DG and the 70-300mm 4-5.6 DL DG? thanks
Marty Sordilla 09-03-2007, 07:57 PM Has anyone tried the 28-70mm 2.8-4 DG and the 70-300mm 4-5.6 DL DG? thanks
my first ever sigma lens was the 28-70 2.8-4 DG. i sold it after 2 months.
i now have for a year the better version and the best alternative to the Beast IMO. the Sigma 28-70 F2.8 EX is a very decent lens for those on a budget.
aldrichlim 09-03-2007, 08:01 PM hsm means, hyper sonic motor, it's the equivalent of the swm or silent wave motor for nikon :D bottomline is that both hsm and swm makes focusing silent :D sorry dunno what the canon conterpart is :D nikon eh :D heheheheif I'm not mistaken, the canon counterpart for that is the USM (Ultrasonic Motor):)

the 18-50 and 50-150 f2.8 lenses look tempting :)
ryanhayudini 09-07-2007, 02:22 PM Ali - I guess the best would be the 18-50 2.8 and 50-150 2.8 or 70-200 2.8
I just wished Sigma will release a 28-70 2.8 HSM so that I can also use it on my D40x also a macro HSM (meroon ba?)
jonathan_corpuz 09-07-2007, 02:29 PM good thing i read this thread, now i don't have to buy the lens here in thailand. i just have to wait till i got home this sunday and head straight to JT.., one last question though...where can i find JT? hope there's one in hidalgo.
thanks again man.

Ryan Sigma has this Macro HSM the APO MACRO 150mm F2.8 EX DG HSM. It costs 32,500 at JT. It's much lighter than your Sigma 70-200/2.8

royguadana 09-19-2007, 05:46 PM John,
bro, Miggy and I tried this once while there was an exhibit in glorietta back then, I think it was FOTOFEST. I was planning to get one for my sony alpha and miggy brought his d80 and we tried it on his d80.
For me, its a good buy, its fast and clear. ask miggy also.
diegojose 09-19-2007, 08:12 PM i'm torn between getting this or the 10-20 EX HSM :) argh hehe
