i've been wanting to go around the streets of manila to shoot bits and pieces of for me, the real life out there. but i haven't had the luxury of time because of the requirements of my course. it's our semestral break now and i'm really planning to shoot around. but of course mas masaya kung may kasama right?

i've always wanted to shoot there as well. game, but somebody told me that it's not as "trashy" there anymore like before. pinatag na raw yung mountains of trash there.

i was thinking of this shanty area somewhere in makati near the riles along osmena hway, lapit lang sa manila. o kaya sa riles mismo (the parts where hindi pa demolished). but it's really dodgey there and i think we'll cause quite a stir if marami tayo. that's why i'm looking for other options. ok also if sa smokey mountain if it's still the smokey mountain that i think it is.. hmmm.. kaw bro?

try this....at the corner where the coastal road ends and turns sharply to the left into las pinas....that area has shanties, breakwaters, houses on stilts, fisherfolk...you can have waterscape sunsets....migratory birds sometimes....the works.... endless possibilities...

alright, will do! basta it's easy na to move from one place to another. what's important now is to set a date so that this would actually push through. mike mabalay suggests that we do it on a weekend. sept 2 na siguro yun. i'd prefer to shoot right away since i want to make the most out of my vacation, but i'm cool with the weekend shoot. hehe.. so ano guys? :)

yeah no prob, text me or pm me what area you live in so we could make arrangements. 2 guys are riding with me already, sonny and neil. i can accomodate 2 more (a 3rd if willing to sit at the back of a pajero, i'll update if i can bring a van to accomodate more). those riding with me should be able to be fetched from pasig/ortigas area and makati area (rockwell). anyway those who want to hitch just send me a pm or text me. :)

okay we have a finalized location already, we'll go with jay's suggestion to shoot somewhere along the coastal area near las pinas. i'll check it out within this week to see if we'll be needing a permit. so let's all meet up somwhere first at morning (probably around makati or manila.. got suggestions?) , get acquainted and proceed there to shoot around. any suggestions? objections? violent reactions? hehe

can we meet in makati as suggested earlier then proceed to coastal.... ? i think some of us stays in paisg, antipolo.. etc. makati is an easy access for us and for those who will not bring their cars. just a suggestion.

that's what we'll do neil, i can pass by the ones who are riding with me in the pasig, ortigas and rockwell areas. that's our arrangement. the meeting at bluewave would be for all the groups who'll participate since we'll all be arriving in different vehicles. tapos convoy going to the site. =)

chester, mas maganda ngang beginner ka pa lang at nakikisabak ka na sa mga madudunong at sa mga medyo marurunong e... you'll get lots of tips from these people, directly or indirectly, since naging beginner din mga yan before :)... just make sure you mingle with them and ask questions if you really want to learn ok? alam mo naman, ang tatahitahimik, walang napapala, diba? basta makiramdam lang if ever you've reached the point of becoming annoying na... pag ganun, lipat ka na sa kabilang photographer, mwehehe...

Take the Tas Trans bus and tell the driver to drop you off at Lungos (I think that's what they call it). That's the point where the flyover to Imus is and where the bus turns right to Coastal Road.

if you're coming from manila via coastal road (southbound of course), this is located at the end of it . it curves left and surely you wont miss it. hth

were you able to check out the place? If yes, do we need to secure permits for this photo trip? I havent seen the place and I dont have the slightest idea whats in store for us in this place....care to share what exactly do we get to see there?

suggestion...it would be better if you would get locals to guide you around...just for your protection...this is what made our trip to baseco a success

Guys... my advise is, at the very least magpakilala kayo sa Barangay Captain or any Barangay Official to make them know of your presence and purpose, in any case may mangyari sa inyo at least alam nila kung sino kayo. This is what I do whenever I go on photo shoots in far-flung areas in our province (Iloilo and Quezon). Magandang idea din na kumuha ng local guide, who would also be a great source of information about the place (bayaran ninyo if possible). If you are planning to shoot in depressed communities (e.g. squatters, etc.), chances are merong mga NGO's - NGO worker - religious missionary na naka-destino sa lugar na 'yun... they are very reliable sources of information as well. Finally, it wouldn't hurt if you guys can give some form of donations to the community (e.g. old clothes, some food items. etc.); in that way nakagawa na rin kayo ng charity work while doing photography. I always think that we, as photographers, are also responsible citizens.

Sayang... sarap sana sumama sa inyo... kaso 'andito ako sa Saudi eh. Next time, pagbakasyon ko, feel free to visit my place... timing dahil Ati-atihan festival ang next na bakasyon ko.

yup, that's exactly what i'm going to do tomorrow, visit the place and talk to the barangay officials there. i did the same thing when i shot along the riles in osmena. they were open naman, they escorted me throughout the shoot to make sure that me and my models were safe from the squatters there. i just gave them some merienda money for their troubles.

game na nga. i'll just check if we need a permit kasi around 20 na tayong pupunta doon. okay lang sana kung mga 5 di na siguro kailangan ng permit. pero kung 20 tayo mabubulabog talaga yung community doon. that's why we have to let them know and ask if we can, hindi yung susulpot na lang tayo bigla. klaro na? :)

just got home from the site with tok, it was great there! we got to talk to the barangay chairman and he told us to just go there on saturday. he just told us to be sure that the photos would not be for media purposes or whatever. i guess abutan na lang rin natin sila since sasamahan nila tayo.

anyway, we're good to go na. me and tok suggest we all meet up at around 2pm sa blue wave, get acquainted and proceed there.

yep, the chairman was rather apprehensive nga since he thought we might use the photos against their reputation and even for media purposes. but he ok'd when we told him that it was for school and portfolios.

Is this the community area near the Coastal-Zapote flyover, is the barangay post you are saying is the one under the flyover? Is this the parking space you are refering to also, the one under the flyover? Because if ever I can come, I might just go there directly as it is near my place.

we decided to move the meet-up at 2pm at blue wave thinking that the shoot-around venue would be better for shooting in the afternoon.

Guys, my sincerest apologies. I can't make it. Family medical priority. Thank goodness the emergency is off already.
