I received a CanoScan LiDE600F a couple of weeks ago.

It was a nice to discover that it didn't need an AC adapter to power it. It draws all of its power from the computer's USB port if you use the supplied USB cable that comes with it.
My wife likes it because it can stand on its side. It takes up less space on my cluttered work area. It comes with a supplied 35mm film adapter (which I still have to try out).
I tried scanning a little home project earlier today. The only thing I can't figure out is which color space is used for the scanned images. I'll probably get around to it once I spend more quality time playing with the scanner.
Scans were quick and the operation was quiet. I know that this isn't a high end printer. But it will suffice for most of my personal projects (especially for some assignments of my kids or documents that have to be scanned as PDF prior to being faxed from my computer).
Cheers!
