The swivel LCD is awesome! Very useful with awkward shooting positions such as shooting overhead and ground level shots.

Man, so DSLRs are going the P&S route hehe... face detection, LCD, now swivel LCDs, what's next, pano stitching and movies?

Nice cam, I've always loved the brute look of the E-1, glad they didn't change this.

Honestly, the photos in the sites mentioned doesn't give justice to the E3... except for those where the Korean girl was actually holding it. ANG GANDA (E3 and the girl, hehehe)!!! [drools]

* Huwat??? 1.15x OPV magnification? WOW!
* Cross-type lahat ng AF sensor? GALING! And at -2EV, that would be a dim-light miracle focusing!
* Is there any mention if the grip will be compatible with the BLM-1? The E1 uses a different battery for it's grip.

Where did you get this info? Thanks Jimmy! :D

why not except if someone gave me that as a gift or manalo ako sa LOTTO.. but i will keep both! :) I cant afford to switch and im already inlove with my alpha.

I remember when im looking for my first DSLR, my choices are Nikon D80, Olympus E510 and my Sony A100.... Unfortunately, i was turn off to buy the D80 during my visit to hidalgo because of unpleasant talk with the seller.. E510 is not yet available... SOny A100 is perfect because they have 12mos to pay scheme at 0% :D Anyway, I still believe its on the "Indian" not in the "Pana".. hihihi.. Olympus is a competitive DSLR and I love its features but it is just hard to find lens and accessories here.

Hi Jeff,

Before I had the same problem on finding lenses and accessories here, but lately I've been seeing lenses popping out everywhere. It seems local Oly distributors are doing a good job on marketing their lenses now especially the new units which I seem to see in a lot of major mall nowadays. The problem now is finding the money to buy them :D

It took me two months to have my E410 battery. Almost everything with Olympus is on order basis except the kits and the remaining stocks of E-500 and E-330. I have yet to see a store display a Zuiko beyond the kits. How's with Sony?

Go to mega and they have several display of lenses beside kit lens. 300mm, 50-200mm, 50mm macro, 7-14mm, etc. I was there last saturday. But not sure if their booth is till there today. Try it. Bldg B ground flr, Olympus booth by Axis.:)

There's this store in Park Square "Tech Thrive" I think which has the 14-54mm, 35mm Macro and 50-200mm. Also Electroworld shops already have some lenses aside from the Kits in display. Some high grade lenses are for order basis yes.

Well quite the same bro! :) if you visit a sony store its hard to find nowadays a display even of the a100 (puro posters lang ) unlike before and accessories are per order basis. I havent tried to order any item yet and most sales person told me so when I inquire. Worst case they dont know. I guess the Sony DSLR here is not the 100%. Maybe next year things might change consider A700 was just released and I saw a lot of gears/accessories is popping up on their list. But good thing its an "A" mount! :) ........ I got some old AF Minolta lenses that were inexpensive and legendary.

By the way, recently I saw a lot of Olympus E510/E410 even the old versions in the malls. Imagine having 2 seperate lenses a wide and telephoto as a kitlens is ideal to have for beginners.

hehe. I forgot to mention that Axis Global had several exhibits so anybody who wants to see glasses beyond the kit lenses, they are always free to find them in the malls. :) I had actually tried some of their popular lenses now in one of their 'mall tours'. Thanks to Mario and Riz.

Hi Jeffrey,

The actual specs of the E-3 (we're not even sure if that is the final name) is still to be announced on Oct 17 that's a couble of days away. In the meantime Olympus has been slowly revealing hints on their "Passion for Best" episodes which you could see here:

Everyone's excited, I just do hope it delivers.

And it's almost the same price as Nikon D300. Not sure with the performance though. I hope E3 does better.

2.5 inch LCD, maybe the tilt features limited its size. Both Canon 40d and Nikkon D300 has 3inch but not tilting.

Dimension: 142 x 116 x 75 mm (5.6 x 4.6 x 2.9 in)
Weight: 800g (w/o) batt  QUITE HEAVY! I wonder what it weighs with the grip.
E510 weighs 460g w/o batt, figure that out

Tempting!:Dum:

LCD for Nikon D300 and Sony A700 is way ahead at 3.0" in 920K/270 pixels/dpi while both Canon 40d and Oly E3 is only at 230K pixels. Imagine the clear and much detailed look at the photos in the LCD for both of these beast. Ofcourse the tilt function for E3 is a plus but the LCD could be equaly done with D300/A700. I wonder why they dont improve it or even make it at 3.0"

What's the dual cross AF thing? The AF is like an asterisk now?

I think the A700 is the one that has a dual cross type AF point in the center. The E3 has all 11 AF points crosstype (vertical and horizontal detection).

The K10D has the 9 central AF points cross type and the other 2 with single axis AF type. The 40D to my understanding now has the same (9 crosstype from the 11AF points, the 30D has a single crosstype at the center) .

one exciting new feature is the built-in remote controller for the new FL-50R and FL36R. Just like NIkons CLS feature.
