View Full Version : Misaligned pics on my D70

Ok so now i have this problem, after shooting on the EB i noticed that when i took pictures of the gate it seems my pics have a slight angle. I tried my best to keep the bars parallel to the grid on the viewfinder but when i review them they weren't aligned. My pics had a slight tilt on them. I never really noticed it before and thought that maybe it was just my hands.

So i tried taking pics with my tripod making sure the spirit leveler on the tripod and head were dead center. My pics still had a slight tilt to them. I know Its not really that bad I could just rotate them, but its bothering me (like what if i take panoramic shots). Any ideas on how i can remedy this? :)

Any help would be appreciated :) Thanks in advance :)

Sounds like a similar gridline problem of Jovit here:

Could be that, or it could be lens distortion?

Marton, have you tried changing lenses?

hi marton,

what lens are you using? try shooting with a 50mm (or any lens that you have w/ little to no distortion) and see if the same problem turns up.

Thanks for the inputs :)

Yes I tried changing lenses, it still happens with my 135mm and 50mm. :(

Now i think it might be the mirror, perhaps i should bring it to columbia. But i've never dropped the camera or anything like that and I've only got around 13,000 actuations with my cam.

Maybe you can post sample photos showing the problem. :)

That was my first shot, I had the grid parallel the bars.

The second was to make sure, but alas they are still tilted. :(

the distortion is quite big. i seriously doubt its the lens now.

yup this was using a 135mm 2.8 manual, i also get the distortion on my manual 50mm and 105mm plus my kit :P So most definitely i think its the mirror or something inside.

same problem as mine. I used 50mm lens but the horizontal line was really sloping down.

Marton, it's better to get the camera serviced... It's hard to guess what this thing really is--it should be opened up by someone authorized IMO. Goodluck...

Either the focusing screen or the camera's sensor is out of alignment.
