This is the Palau vine... quite rare here in Manila. This vine came from Ilocos and is now growing nicely in my sister's trellis in Tagaytay. Enjoy!

try to focus on the flower petal instead of the branch unless you intended to focus on the bud. if you did, try to go nearer or try to crop out the background a bit.

hahaha not quite, kneeling and bringing the camera to ground level and tilting the lens a bit, then fire away... took a few tries as I could not see the view finder that way..thanks:)

Thanks for the compliment, Zandy! I just saw that rose floating in a murky pond in Sonya's Garden. When I saw my shot it gave a sad eerie feeling, somewhat morose. Hey, that's a good title "Morose" parang double entendre.

haha, yeah that's what really drew me into the orchid, its strange face-like appearance... i dont have any idea what kind of orchid it is, but this was shot in La Mesa Eco Park's Orchidarium... thanks for the appreciation... :Grin:

Your flower images are beautiful. The tulips is my fave! I like the shallow DOF!!! Imagine if that was shot with a UWA lens? nice!

Glad you liked them. The tulips shot was actually taken with my kit lens (focal length 35mm). The rest were taken with a 77mm prime.

This is nice... is it just me, or are red, purple and pink flowers a thad hard to photograph? I always consciously check my exposure settings when they're the colors involved. That's the same reason why I love taking flower shots when it's overcast weather.

Yes, you're right. Much better if your cam has RGB histogram and use that to check if your reds(blues, yellows) are not blown-out. If you're shooting in the bright sun, safer to underexpose and adjust during pp.

Welcome to DPP. I'm no expert in giving CC but here goes... the flower is properly exposed but since I adhere more to natural lighting, (did you use flash on this?), I prefer the warm color that the sun gives to the plant.

I like the composition of the flower though. And the shallow DOF is great!

Din, no i didnt use flash... it was natural sunlight since i took the shot at around 4pm. Anyways, thanks for replying. Btw, Jopet Sy is a very good friend of mine... we talked about you earlier today. Told him i really admire your work.:)
