FOUND OBJETS: a collection of concept jewels by Paul Syjuco

Confident. Self-assured. Gutsy. This is how sought-after jeweler designer, Paul Syjuco, likes to describe the kind of women his creations were intended for.

“They have their own sense of style and don’t subscribe to trends”, the designer declares, “Exuding self-confidence, they are aware of their own strengths and what they can do”.

As homage to these women, through a unique exhibition rarely seen in art galleries, OWG will have on view Paul Syjuco’s latest concept jewelry collection—stand-out pieces that elevate jewelry from simple adornments to higher forms of art.

Here, Syjuco touches the earth—imbibing its energy—as he turns to objects endemic to nature for inspiration.

“Basically, I was taken by things we literally see on the ground such as rocks, pebbles, sand, shells…objects we normally tend to overlook in our everyday lives.”

With an imaginative use of metal, (sterling silver, vermeil or gold in varying hues) radiantly colored gems, (both faceted and beads) infused with skilled craftsmanship that adheres to exacting attention to detail, (the artisans in his family’s workshop have been doing it for years) the nuances of the earth and the richness of its textures are well evident in his necklaces and rings.

“A reverse engineering of sorts takes place to make rigid materials as metal take on organic shapes”, he adds.

Each one luxuriant and sensuous, Paul Syjuco’s works of art are without doubt true masterworks to behold: complimenting, transforming, the women who wear them. When the pieces touch the skin, one can hear or feel the drumbeats of the earth. When the light touches the gems, the colors begin to glow.

FOUND OBJETS will be on view from August 19 to August 31, 2006.

Dude,

I merely wanted to clarify the rules in this forum which I believe is a valid issue. If you were accorded special privileges, then why not just say it. If not, then I suppose anyone can post threads following your reasoning.

As a moderator, I believe you can exercise your heightened sensibilities as to what is appropriate. I don't think there is need to go to the extent of "disturbing" others.

Just a thought.

well it is under the news, announcements, events subforum...

Ross, will the event organizer allow a photographer to shoot pix of the jewelry?

Caloy, i don't think it's not a problem with Paul Syjuco ( he may answer your query here
:) ) ...as long as you give credit to his art and give him CD maybe. For me i let photographers shoot the artworks at OWG, because you can find interesting subjects in every corner:)
