i managed to secure a media pass for this year's staging of the bingo bonanza philippine open (thanks to maya of img & farrah of the pba), and had a chance to shoot the matches.

unfortunately for me, i had to deal with a couple of problems that went my way:
1) my 70-200 2.8 lens was still being serviced by sigma japan, so i had to borrow the f/4 of an officemate
2) during the last match (that featured pinoys) of day 1, my 350d refused to cooperate with me - and on the display read "error 99"

suffice it to say, i wasn't able to shoot on the remaining tournament days, since i hardly had time to get my equipment fixed. :(

anyway, here are some of the shots that i did manage to take (though i would've preferred to use my faster 2.8 lens for my shots):

PS
to anyone else who managed to shoot the tournament (esp. during the othe days), feel free to add your own shots here...

i like your first shot there, brian. not only did you manage to freeze the action well, but you got both the player (his full body) and the shuttle. at that time, i really wished i had my 2.8 with me.:(

were you able to get a media pass from the organizers? were you present on all the 5 competition days?

i was really lucky on day 1, having arrived about an hour before the asuncion siblings played their first round match.

thanks mark, i like you too =) just a comment on the venue, the arena was well lit if you ask me, compare to other venues. i look up to the metal halide lightings and its even half lighted, f4 would give you a decent exposure in expense of iso1600.

i usually shot in minimal iso (800 at that time), if possible, unlesss i have no choice.

i was able to get a media pass; well i was only present on the 2nd day.

lucky you, well at the time i was shooting, i havent seen a filipino players thats why all of my shoots were international players.

cheers!
