I have seen some shots of this in flickr.

Chewy posted nice ones. But, I still have to see 100% crops of center and edges wide open and other stops.

Can anyone post?

hi marty!

here's a sample shot at f/1.8

pm me your email address so i can send you center and edge crops of this shot. I think i just used levels and saturation here.

I hardly ever use my 28mm stopped down because I bought it for the sole purpose of low-light macro (for food shots)

cheers!

great shot chewy, I myself have been looking at the 28 f/1.8 for some time now.

it's a fine lens! not great great but better than just "good." hehehe

note that when you try to use it for macro, you might want to add a touch of exposure compensation as your shot would turn dark without it.

Hi, I am interested in getting this lens for a nikon d80. I've read that there's a lot of sample variation with sigmas (as well as nikon I suppose). Could you guys tell me:

1) Is this lens compatible with a D80?
2) Did you have to test several copies at the store?
3) I'm kinda leaning towards the 28mm because its cheaper, but would the 24mm be more useful?

Thanks!

Thanks aris. I pm'd him. Hope you guys don't mind answering a couple more questions. Is the lens sharp and does it focus fast enough? I understand its a big lens. Do you like it enough to use it a lot?

Thanks

hey eric!

the reason why i purchased the 28mm f/1.8 is for it's approximation of being a "normal" or 50mm lens. On a 1.5x body, it's about 42mm. Add decent macro capability and it's a wonderful walkaround lens.

It's a nice looking lens, and will make your D80 look quite macho, specially with the hood on. It's big, but not heavy.

It can be sharp if you know how to use it, after all, it's still a regular af-driven lens.

EDIT:

How much is the going price of this lens? Brand new and second hand?
