View Full Version : Lightsphere, Omnibounce, Stroboframe? do you use?
Francis Perez 08-15-2006, 08:40 PM do you use any of these light modifiers?
i just shot a wedding last weekend and.. well.. im really hating the effect of the flash when the cam is in vertical orientation.
dave_deluria 08-15-2006, 08:44 PM I used to have the Lightsphere... loved it but got too many laughs so I sold it. It's also bulky and has a tendency to fall off (causing more laughs).
I tried to use the built-in bounce card of the 580EX, not bad at all...
I am back to STO-FEN now since it's a trade off I'm willing to live with (portability & performance).
jake_borres 08-15-2006, 08:52 PM yup...i use a stroboframe vh2000 and a lumiquest pocketbounce...helps a lot to even out the light coming out of the flash
Richard Ledesma 08-15-2006, 09:54 PM I have all the above mentioned. I used to use strobo with omni then LS without the strobo. I recently sold my LS and instead I bought new dembdiffuser. In my opinion, the dembdiffuser is better copare to LS. your can check it here http://www.dembflashdiffusers.com/

did you buy your dembdiffuser here in the Phils? If yes where and how much did it cost you? Been wanting to try it out and compare it with my sto fen
Francis Perez 08-16-2006, 12:12 AM i also use my bounce card of my sb800 almost 99% of the time during events.. weddings etc...
its just that when im on portrait orientation.. the long shadows behind the subject is so irritating that im seriously considering getting one of these modifiers.
Derick_Gamboa 08-16-2006, 12:36 AM With the above items, i've tried them with the RRS Flash arms. http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/flash/index.html
In my experience, stofen or LS2 works well with flash mounted directly above the lens. Makes for more natural, lightly warm color.
More often, the stofen stay mounted, and when required do I use the LS2. the LS1 falls off easily, and like dave have been "noticed critically" as a nice basket-hoop at parties!!!  Since I hate using the dome which makes it fall off easily, rarely use on cam.
I keep all of them still as they work quite well as diffusers for remote flash photography using canon's ST E2, with several 550's.

May be your using the old model, there is a new model which is soft and can be easily kept. Lightsphere II
Richard Ledesma 08-16-2006, 11:49 AM bought it online. it's free shipping and better than omni, no harsh shadow when flip it to vertical

Marton_Benitez 08-18-2006, 02:54 AM Im planning to get one of these diffusers and can't decide between the Demb or the LS2. Any suggestions to sway my decision? :)
Richard Ledesma 08-18-2006, 11:34 AM Some people may not agree with me.
Demb diffuser - pwede directional lighting, convenient and won't fall off unlike the LS. By the way, yung nagamit ko before was the older version of LS. HIndi ko pa na try yung LSII na clear. I think you can't go wrong with these 2 type of diffuser. except nahuhulog ang LS and nakakhiya lalo na sa big occation.
