Stage and Fashion, another field of photography experienced in the flesh (pardon the pun). We were fortunate to witness the FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2007 at the World Trade Center last night July 12. In the next few posts, we will share what we have captured on the catwalk. This is one thread I want to JUST watch and NOT shoot. Watch closely, Aly and Nino were in the VIP section. Very good vantage point. Saw the tickets Miguel was passing around during "My Extremely Wonderful Day" :Grin:

They wont? Why? Sa VIP area, sana you told them you're PRESS or DPP member papayag mga yun. I always say that I'm a press photog, and they allow me hehe. Funny on those FHM parties, it's always not allowed "kuno" to bring any cameras... but if you observe the crowd, you can't count the number of people with cameras hehehe. The only thing I don't like when you're in the VIP area is that nasa tagiliran palagi ng stage. Pero I dunno this year, baka iba ang position.

i actually work for a media company, albeit online. but the woman at the VIP entrance told me "pwede sana kung press or publication". i didn't have a press ID, so i didn't try to force the issue. :Grin:

but in the VIP area, there were a lot of cams being flashed around. a lot of P&S cams probably hidden within the bags. hehe.

and yes, the VIP area was beside the stage.

Lazlo, I saw the sign too but I figured "hey this is VIP and I'm gonna shoot or else..."

Nobody stopped me bringing in my gear with three lenses. I just left my monopod in the car. Same with Nino with his big crumpler and his gear.

Oh, and I was wearing my Indy Hat of course.

Well, there's nothing much I can do except pray that Gayle will eventually forgive you. While it is most difficult for us to accept that you will again be missing a once in a life time event, I am sure, all the women you saw last night was worth the "house arrest" situation you are in. Aly, must have suffered the same fate. But Aly, even at his ripe mid-term age, would NOT have dared ask permission from his wife if it was her birthday. It is a let down to know that our comrade in arms has "Asthma".:(

No pain, no gain. ......Randy, and I'm not referring to your pain...........two of our friends have suffered enough in the hands of their wife, all we can hope an pray for, is that their camera gear come out of this with any scratches, less be sold as a pre-owned unit..........:Grin::Grin:.......believe me, major problem eto. I had to shoot a general news/spot news coverage for my homework. I only had time after office hours. The only one available was this event. I called the PR and explained to them that I was a student in need of help. They gave me a pass alright, a non-VIP pass. I only noticed the "no cameras allowed" rule by the door. I tagged along with Luis Liwanag who was tasked to shoot Joyce Jimenez but they were so damn strict. I didn't brat it out anymore so I just left. Hay.

I can't wait for September... :D

Sorry guys, still downloading 3rd CF to my PC. I shot in RAW so I have to convert to JPEG and then reduce to Web size and then upload to Photobucket before you see any pictures. With no editing, I could post some pictures in an hours time.

Patience my dear Randy, patience...... hehehehe...

To get over with the technical stuff:
The camera used was a Canon 400D
60% of the time I used a 70-200mm f/4L lens, 20% using the 17-40mm f/4L and I almost forgot that I brought it, 20% using the 50mm f1.8
98% of the time I used ISO1600 setting because I wanted to experiment on capturing the event with available light. No flash was used except for the group hugs (uy, more than one) and some sponsors models before the show.
This is strictly RAW to JPEG conversion, no photoshop done (as if I know how to use one). :Scared:

Robert, Yes we were there right at the corner edge but at the time you took this picture of Nancy, we were already on our way out to avoid the exit rush and traffic. Besides, I was running out of CF cards already. We didn't even get to see Katrina Halili come out. :(

hi joey, initially i tried using a tele lens but aly and i decided to move closer to the stage, Used my 50mm 1.8 instead at around 600 to 800 ISO at f/2.0 to 2.2, Manual Mode, and No flash.

on the fist few images I posted I used flash.:)

Thanks, Robert. We were on our way out already when suddenly they started calling the 100 sexiest. Made my way back to the non-VIP crowd and started shooting with my 70-200mm. But unfortunately we didn't wait for Katrina Halili to come out. Naka labas na kami sa parking lot by that time. :(

I was one of the lucky ones who was able to attend this event. Sharing my pictures. Since i am a beginner all comments and suggestions welcome.

I used a Nikon D200 with 28-70 F2.8 lens, mostly no flash.
