galing! pagmamalaki natin to! ganda pala ng yanbu side of saudi arabia. lots of interesting subject. so far the we only visited eastern region, jeddah and abha.

It's not that great around here sadik. Pinagtiyatiyagaan ko lang. Hehehe!

No other option for photo ops eh. Kakatakot nga eh because I go alone on those locations. Usually, early morning around 5:30AM para ala gaanong tao. Lakasan na lang ng loob. Alam mo naman mga arabo, medyo konserbatibo kaya pa-extra extra lang sa pag-shoot.

Anyway, I'm looking for some companions to do photo ops around here but sadly, haven't found one. :( Puro walang hilig sa photography yung mga tropa ko dito eh. :D

The photos I posted here are not HDR processed. Everything was shot in RAW and converted using Capture One Pro then post-processed through PS CS2 with simple Shadow/Highlight adjustment and some third party filters such as Fred Miranda's Velvia Vision and Nik Color Efex Pro 2.0.

nice pictures Orlando, sa Rub Al Khali ok din puro sand dunes at balita ko pula din buhangin doon kaso medyo delikadong maligaw dapat meron talagang kasamang guide. Di pa ako nadestino doon muntik na sana. tama sabi mo hirap kumuha ng pictures kaya tyaga na lang ako dito sa corniche kapag sunrise. sa al hasa ok din.

Hindi lang naman disyerto at camel ang makikita sa Saudi... some shots from Dhahran...
magagandang kabayo at magaganda din ang nangangabayo...

What a nice and excellent collection of boats, Orly!

Pagdating namin d'yan... sa ilalim naman ng dagat tayo mag-shoot... naka-book na kami for the shark dive (may kasama daw shark feeding), I'm already excited to swim with the famous bull sharks of Yanbu... last time I've checked, nakuha daw sa tiyan ng bull shark yung missing Pinoy diver na nakulong pa yung apat na kasamahan, at napalaya lamang after 3 months n'ung accidentally mahuli yung shark ng isang local fisherman at nakuha ang relos ng missing Pinoy sa belly n'ung shark. Apologies for the morbid story, but it's true. Buti na lang nahuli yung shark, kung hindi kawawa naman yung 4 na Pinoy na ikinulong ng walang kalaban-laban.

Nabalitaan ko nga rin yung tungkol diyan sa kinain ng pating na pinoy. A really sad story. Sa ibabaw na lang ko ng dagat mag-shoot bossing, picturan ko na lang kayo before and after the shark dive event. Hehehehe! Takot ako sa pating eh! lolz :D

FYI, I used AlienSkin's Exposure plugin on those photos to get that contrasty and saturated look and feel just like Fujifilm's Velvia slide film.

Sir Arnell, no need to be envious sir. Mas malayong magaganda yung mga kuha ninyo especially your shooting the rapids series. Advantage ko lang po sa inyo, medyo exotic yung shooting location ko dito sa disyerto... Hehehehe! :D

Seriously, I used to think that I'm hopeless in getting good compositions, but once I took one of betterphoto.com's online photography course, I learned how to SEE! Learned how to observe my surroundings! Learned how to make interesting compositions! Learned how to properly use the EYE! Really! I'm not kiddin! You should try it out man! It's really worth it despite the courses steep prices! :)

Just think about what the photographers from yesteryears used. Even our low-end gear now can be considered state of the art compared to what those guys had yet they were able to produce masterpieces.

By the way, thanks for the tip. I'll definitely take a look at betterphoto.com

Solo flight nga palagi eh.. Hopefully, this coming eid vacation hindi na. Dami mga maniniyot na pupunta dito sa Yanbu! Umaatikabong photo op ito! Hehehe! :Grin:

Woke up early last thursday and went to a park frequented by joggers here in yanbu. While I'm looking for a good spot to get a photo, I took this shot overlooking a landmark tower before the industrial area. Took 5 frames with different exposures ranging from 2stops underexposed up to 2 stops over stops overexposed to get the high dynamic range of the scene. Merged the different exposures using Photomatix then performed some retouching on PS CS2. Here it is.... :)

Actually, scrap photo na yan kasi may camera shake. Very windy kasi nung nagawi kami sa lugar na iyan tapos ala pa ko dalang tripod kaya handheld shot lang. Salvaged photo ika nga. Tried to PP it to bring out the colors tapos added some blur effect para di mahalata yung camera shake. Last but not the least, siyempre, I also added grains, lotsa grains for that nostalgic effect! :)

i missed yanbu !!!buti pa kayo ..naka shoot ,ako hangang tingin lang diyan...hindi ako pina baba nang nag hatid sa akin sa airport kasi bawal daw,dahil babae daw ako...hanggang wedding hall at reception lang daw ang babaeng photographer...mga salbahi na arabo!!!!!
