CocoyLopez 06-01-2007, 03:20 PM Hi Pilar,
What is the exact date and time of the seminar ?
fidel_mercado 06-01-2007, 03:25 PM So it's a 4 day event but the seminars will only be given for 2 days? Hope those 2 days are the 18th and 19th. :)
magscustodio 06-01-2007, 04:00 PM I'll Join!!!
Budget.... kailangan mang raket pa ako....
:)
Nick Tuason 06-01-2007, 04:05 PM Hi Pilar,
What is the exact date and time of the seminar ?
The Seminars are on the 18th and 19th of August which is a Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 6pm. It was done this way to accommodate those who have day jobs. Now if the registration starts filling up quickly, I'll try to convince the FPPF to add Friday, August 17 as a bonus.
Can't beat the quality of speakers. These guys are one of the best. And don't forget that your fee comes with food also. I don't think there is any deal like this around.
diegojose 06-01-2007, 04:29 PM if the seminars are on the 18th and 19th, what'll be happening on the 16th and 17th? :) pwede bang discount? birthday ko is actually august 17 hahaha :D
fidel_mercado 06-01-2007, 04:34 PM Thanks for the clarification Nick. Yahoo! Gonna send in my payment next week.
Nick Tuason 06-01-2007, 04:36 PM The Trade Show is for four days 16-19 so the first two days are dedicated to trade solely. The trade will be giving the big discounts... on their products. :)
diegojose 06-01-2007, 04:38 PM hahaha aryt! :) sayang i thought i'd get a discount on the entrance fee hehe! can't wait, this will be my first expo or whatever you call it that's related to photography! better save up na haha!
Eric Isaac 06-01-2007, 04:46 PM The seminar will last for 2 days. It will be a choose your class concept. 2 Classes will be running simultaneously.
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z63/DPP_Gallery/summit.jpg
Does each class last the entire day, or half a day?
Do we get to attend all four classes in these two days?
Thanks for clarification!
enjoy_gaw 06-01-2007, 04:52 PM no forms to download and fill up? :)
Nick Tuason 06-01-2007, 05:33 PM Does each class last the entire day, or half a day?
Do we get to attend all four classes in these two days? Thanks for clarification!
There won't just be four classes over two days. There will be several. The range of specialty for these four speakers is very wide--Fashion, Glamour, Wedding, Landscape, Portraits, Children, Photoshop. So what happens is that attendees will select what lectures they want to attend.
The FPPF is working with the photographers for their curriculum and when we have those they will be posted. Just an example to give you an idea:
Day 1
9:00 am - 10;30 am
Room 1- Landscape Photography secrets - Don Emmerich
Room 2- Posing Models for Fashion photography- Lou Freeman
11:00 am to 12:30
Room 1- Dancing with the Bride and Groom- Wedding photographer
Room 2- Effective Portrait Techniques- Don Emmerich
1:00 pm to 2:30 pm
Room 1- New approaches in Child Photography- Nancy Emmerich
Room 2- Effective Fashion Lighting Techniques- Lou Freeman
3:00 pm to 4:30 pm
Room 1- Photoshop for Portraiture- Don Emmerich
Room 2- The Senior Portrait- Studio Techniques- Nancy Emmerich
Again, the above is just an example and not firm topics or times. Its just to outline what to expect. You won't have to attend a child photography seminar if your interest lies elsewhere. Here you get to choose what you think would be best for your photography.
Nick Tuason 06-01-2007, 05:37 PM no forms to download and fill up? :)
Good question. I'll have the FPPF provide me one for download here.
We technically can't reserve seats for DPP members because its a first come first served event. FPPF events like this sell out very quickly with their existing list of delegates. I just hope DPP members take the opportunity to attend this Photo Summit. With world class speakers like this, its a must attend event.
Mark Anthony Inandan 06-01-2007, 06:53 PM i love to join but i dont know anyone. hehehe!
Romeo Lao To Jr. 06-01-2007, 07:04 PM can a newbie join? I mean i'm new to photography with my 1 month old d40.
diegojose 06-01-2007, 07:06 PM me too, but this one sounds worth it! dein na hiya hiya! haha!

This sounds like an exciting event. Looking forward to attending it.
Thanks!

The seminar is beneficial to all who are interested in joining, whether beginner, pro, hobbyist, amature..whatever you want to call yourself...as long as you love photography and want to learn, this is an oppurtunity you wont want to miss. Of course, it would benefit you more if you start understanding your camera and its functions so that you will have a beter grasp when technical converstion comes in.

Nick,
Interesting topics...sana i could CLONE myself so that I could attend all the talks...or split myself into several persons like in Michael Keaton's MULTIPLICITY...:)
cocoy paguio 06-02-2007, 12:16 AM very much interested. i hope no conflicts with my sched. ill watch this thread for more details and updates :-)
Sherwin Andal 06-02-2007, 03:48 AM Grab this opportunity guys! FPPF and DPP chooses great speakers! :)
Consider yourselves lucky. You'll get to attend 4 classes in one day out of 8, compared to what we have here (also a seminar for two days) - we only get to attend 4 classes out of 32 (first day only). The second day is entirely for the 'specially-invited speaker' - and the trade show goes while the seminar runs during the first day.
Lucky you! Come on people, you wouldn't want to miss this!!!
irwin see 06-02-2007, 09:56 AM nice one!!! i'll have to check from time to time so i could know the sched of the seminar would really like to attend the landscape :)
Erwin Feliciano 06-02-2007, 11:13 AM Hi! Is there any difference to calling Bella Luce from, say, expressing our intent to reserve via this forum?
Pilar Tuason 06-02-2007, 11:25 AM Hi! Is there any difference to calling Bella Luce from, say, expressing our intent to reserve via this forum?
Hi Erwin,
You can post your intentions here so we know that we know that we will be expecting your call. No reservation is final until a payment has been made. Sorry but since there is a limited number of seats, once it is full we wont be able to accomodate anymore. So guys, dont just post your intentions but please call us up too so that you are guaranteed a seat.
Thanks guys!
Nick Tuason 06-02-2007, 11:30 AM Hi! Is there any difference to calling Bella Luce from, say, expressing our intent to reserve via this forum?
You can express your interest but we cannot hold seats for anyone. Its a purely first come- first served- first pay basis. The FPPF is also selling seats to their regular delegates so combining both FPPF and DPP networks means that the seats will set out quickly. We'd love to hold seats but unfortunately cannot.
diegojose 06-02-2007, 12:03 PM wow the seminars sound awesome! i wanna attend them all!
jose_deluna 06-02-2007, 02:21 PM I wish to attend.

Understood; thanks for the clarification. Aside from actually dropping by the Bella Luce office, is there an alternative way of paying, like depositing in a bank account or something? :)
Johans Lucena 06-04-2007, 08:07 AM Does anyone know if the Belle Luce office is open on saturdays?

Thanks!!
Eric Isaac 06-04-2007, 11:40 AM I had already spoken to Karen of FPPF. Since I'm often in their area, opted to arrange my attendance through their office. Many thanks!
mark_imbong 06-04-2007, 01:38 PM in case i'm not able to attend the seminars (though i really hope i can), would it be alright if those dpp-ers who were present during those times are able to share what they learned from the different speakers? in a separate thread, perhaps?
i might just be able to make it to the trade show (sniff, sniff). any other details on this part of the summit?
sheryll_bituin 06-05-2007, 03:46 PM Aside from actually dropping by the Bella Luce office, is there an alternative way of paying, like depositing in a bank account or something? :)

jun_staana 06-05-2007, 08:28 PM Pilar / Nick / Nino,
Made my full payment earlier today to Mel. Anyway, if for one reason or another, I will not be able to make it in those days, is the reservation transferable in part (I attend one day another attends the other day) or as a whole (somebody else takes my place for the 2 days)? Thanks in advance.
On the side, I was also able to buy the latest copy of DPP in your studio (that was the bonus). As always, its great!

wishing well and best to all.
i'd personally like some clarification on the schedule distribution of the subjects. i hear there are 2 days of seminars. does that mean there will be a repeat of the previous day's classes. of the example that has been given here, i honestly would like to attend all the classes. so i wonder if the ones i missed the first day, i could still attend the second day. pardon me if i'm a bit confusing, but i hope you understand. thanks so much. keep well!
Nick Tuason 07-13-2007, 06:56 PM There will be no repeat classes. Four speakers over two days means that they can't double up their lectures. We'll be coming up with the final class schedule over a few days. Its going to be a blockbuster event. Can you imagine only P3,500 and getting lessons from top international instructors. Did we mention a photographers night on Day 1. The Summit also comes with food. Not a bad deal if you consider the price of tuition being charged.
sheryll_bituin 07-20-2007, 08:12 PM Will there be any requirement needed for the participants to present on the 16th? Receipt, ID, ID picture...anything?
Thanks!:)
Cheers,
Yheye

The Wrights will be focusing mainly on wedding while the Emmerichs portraiture and post processing. We are asking Don Emmerich if we can also touch on his landscape presentation.
The Emmerich's are traveling now so apologies for not yet posting the final schedule. It most probably will be up tomorrow.

nickbarrios 08-19-2007, 08:10 PM Hi guys, what can you say about the PHOTO SUMMIT? :D
For me, it's BE-YU-TI-FULL
I really enjoyed the whole program and the activities we did at Intramuros, the wedding shoot, tips from Pete and Liliana Wright, their detailed lectures, the Photographers' night, the exciting prizes, the cool giveaways, Don and Nancy Emmerich's lectures and tips also, the food at Club Filipino, the fun and laughter with other photographers, did I mention PRETTY MODELS already? :D I'd probably post some pics if I can upload and scan the 400+ images I still have in my camera...
Share your comments.. I probably won't miss Next Year's Photoworld Asia! It's really a bargain.... :)

I'd like to see your shots of the models.
Jo Avila 08-19-2007, 11:13 PM Damn Photo Summit. :D
It was so close to the studio. It was too tempting to resist not to visit the selling area frequently. I ended up getting a few pieces of gear.
Kudos to the organizers :D
Cheers!
Jo Avila
Miguel Vecin 08-19-2007, 11:17 PM @ Jo - what did you buy??
diegojose 08-19-2007, 11:18 PM bad trip i wasn't able to go at all.. damn sprained my ankle and can't walk or drive.. :(
Jo Avila 08-19-2007, 11:21 PM @ Jo - what did you buy??
Simple stuff. A lens pen, an IR trigger, a set of honeycomb grids, a Hello Kitty stuffed toy and an iPod Nano. :D
Cheers!
Jo Avila
P.S.
I was going to get an Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 that on display at the Canon booth. But I was a bit short of money and I didn't want to give up purchasing the Hello Kitty stuffed toy :D
Miguel Vecin 08-19-2007, 11:22 PM hahah is the hello kitty toy for your toy collection? :)
Jo Avila 08-19-2007, 11:27 PM @ Miguel
It's for one of my daughters. She wanted a partner for the My Melody stuffed toy that her sister owns :D
Talk about temptation. You hold a trade fair in V-Mall. The upper floor is nothing but computers and tech gadgets. Outside is a tiangge and Fully Booked is about a two minute walk away.
So much for the monthly grocery budget :D
Cheers!
Jo Avila
Miguel Vecin 08-19-2007, 11:29 PM I know...too much temptation talaga//
Jo Avila 08-19-2007, 11:33 PM But the whole thing sort of worked out for me. I spent most of my time the other day going around the booths with my 2 year old son in tow.
My wife spent the time going around the tiangge :D
Cheers!

If my wife went around shopping in the tiangge, that would have cost my TWO months grocery budget!!! :Scared:
Miguel Vecin 08-19-2007, 11:48 PM @ Aly = Thats exactly wjhat I was going to say

Aly_Reyes 08-20-2007, 12:01 AM hehehe///so ano...will you get it na :)

Congratulations to everybody for this great event, more over to the people who organized it and of course the speakers. Maraming Salamat to these people. Almost forgot the beautiful models, the Chua's, and the ADPHOTO team. Thank You for your time and patience for dealing with us...
Although, I was perusing through some of the PhotoSummit threads earlier and remembered that one of the raffle prizes werent raffled off. Maybe saving something for later? Like a follow up event?
nino_carandang 08-20-2007, 12:27 PM Congratulations to DPP for a very succesful Photo Summit....keep up the good works guys/gal (Nick, Pilar, Nino, Amiel) for the benefits of photographers from all over the Philippines.... Salute to you all....

Alfred Racho 08-20-2007, 04:20 PM PHOTO SUMMIT 2007
THE PHOTO SUMMIT WAS GREAT!!! SO MUCH STUFF TO LEARN, WITH SUCH CELEBRATED (CELEBRITY?) PHOTOGRAPHERS!
(Yes, that's in all caps, and yes, I AM shouting that).
Okay, Nick Tuason et al did a really good job hosting and organizing the event. The event went smoothly, and any (very negligible) problems regarding the audio-visual was most of the time the fault of the computers of the guest speakers.
Nick was a very gracious emcee as well, properly introducing the speakers, making the flow of the Q&A smooth, etc. Mrs. Huang was the most charming lady (though something about her voice on the microphone makes me think a doctor should be close by -- I thought she was gonna fall over, haha!). Mrs. Huang was so friendly, you can almost hug her and call her your favorite Tita. And Lito was funny, too, but his booming voice on the microphone almost made me think he was campaigning (and yes, I would vote for him).
But the SPEAKERS! Man, they were good! The Wrights (Pete and Liliana) showed us a few things on taking pictures, composing, posing the people in an ARTISTIC yet EFFICIENT manner? Have you seen pictorials after a wedding that took only 15 minutes? These guys did it in 6! And then they showed us how they laid out their album, and that alone could make photographers here make a lot of money because I haven't seen albums and layouts as good as what the Wrights produce. Their retouching and general photoshopping of photos will make MONEY for those who make a living out of photography (I'm just a hobbyist, and not a serious hobbyist, so if I apply those for my friends, they're free). Emulate them, and you will make money.
Don Emmerich showed us why he is such a celebrated photographer. I am not going to do an injustice and tell you why he is so good -- just google his name, look at his work, and be amazed.
Even more amazing, is that DPP and FPPF were able to bring him in! Don was funny (and made fun of his wife a lot -- though, despite that, you know that Nancy was the boss among the Emmerichs). He was engaging, yet to the point. Little things about photoshop (you can tell he is a master of photoshop, too) can make life so much easier.
Nancy Emmerich also showed us a few poses, and even with very simple lighting, could make you produce award winning shots (Nancy herself enters -- and wins -- lots of these print competitions, and she enters at the National level... i.e., best of the best).
At one point, her Corel Painter demo felt a bit dragging... I think it lasted about 20 to 30 minutes even, and I was thinking "do we really have to go through all this?" But, boy, I was wrong in thinking that. She did really, REALLY BASIC Painter stuff, and yet she came out with a work of art. It was so simple, so elegant... and instead of thinking about how dragging it was, changed my thought to "if she can spend 20 to 30 minutes on this and make AWARD WINNING submissions to contest, then WOW! Half an hour and you got yourself an award winner -- now THAT is something!
Both the Wrights and the Emmerichs graciously answered the many questions that were fielded, and it was a real learning weekend.
I applaud DPP and FPPF for making the Photo Summit so accessible. I mean, P3,500 (for the early bird payers like me) for a weekend with the World's Best Photographers (and extremely good photographic educators) -- bargain of the year.
Do I have complaints? Well, yeah, a few:
1. Does everyone really have to be clicking away all the time? Okay, not everyone, but I thought, what the heck are these guys taking pictures for? For a while there, I thought Lady Diana was in the house (bless her soul!), and the paparazzi came in full force. IMO (remember, MY opinion), one would really absorb a lot more of what was being said and taught if they weren't busy snapping away.
2. Sometimes, I was thinking, was this a Photoshop Summit, or a Photo Summit? Okay, I guess we can't help that we're in the digital age and all. I myself am versed (not well versed, but I can manage) in Photoshop -- but pity the Photoshop newbie! A lot of them probably got lost when the Wrights and the Emmerichs started talking about layers, blending, saturating, etc... Admittedly, I learned a lot in terms of how to come up with an IMAGE that can emulate theirs through their particular way of using Photoshop -- but that's because I am familiar with Photoshop. But what about those who are not yet familiar with the program? They just tried to cope with the lectures, I guess.
Perhaps an aviso or something that "Basic Photoshop Knowledge Required" before attending a Photo convention like this would have been useful.
But then again, we ARE in the Digital Age, and image manipulation is what sometimes can be the big differentiator between one photograph and another. Also, the fact that I missed the Friday session (a shoot with the Wrights at Fort Santiago and to be able to have watched them "go to work") may be the reason for this minor complaint.
3. The Tradeshow... er, what tradeshow? There were, what? 8 exhibitors or something? Okay, I exaggerate, but still, I like going to a tradeshow (whether it's about computers, cars, gadgets, photography, etc) where there's lots of stuff to see. A trip to Hidalgo would probably have been more fun. Ah, well, I went to the Photo Summit for the conference anyway, not the tradeshow, so I guess this is a very small complaint. And besides, for those who actually bought something, there's always the special "tradeshow prices", so that's a good thing (I was gonna buy something from Island, but no special tradeshow prices for credit card, so I decided to hold off first).
Again, the complaints are VERY minor, and they are thoroughly forgotten when you consider the quality of the speakers, the organization of the event, and the things you can LEARN.
Nick, I await the PDF that Don kept mentioning (I think I counted 27 times, haha!). And Nick, put me in the list of the next Photo Summit you organize -- I'm in. And now, PITY THE GUY/GAL WHO CAN'T MAKE IT TO THE NEXT PHOTO SUMMIT. I already think that those who missed this really missed a great opportunity to hear fantastic speakers, fantastic photographers, fantastic event.
reyromanjr 08-20-2007, 06:14 PM I've attended several seminars, lectures and workshop, but Photo 2007 Summit is the best in contents, knowledge and experience aquired (excellent speakers that shared their techniques & tips concisely)...a big warmth Thank you to Pete and Liliana Wright, Don and Nancy Emmerich, Nick and Pilar Tuason (first time to taste a Yellow Cab...ssssssarap:Grin:),Nino Carandang, Bella Luce staff, John Chua for the use of AdPhoto Studio (pano na lang kung wala ka!:D,Ms. Huang, Ka Lito Beltran, Vic Sison and the staff of FPPF and to my classmates( i've learned a lot from you regarding my EOS 400D).
I was a bit disappointed with the trade show (prices...and lack of common products ) but with my pride...and pocket...didn't hold me back in buying several expensive item...the rest will have to be postponed...till a trip to Hidaldo:Grin:(batteries-Ansman, hand grip, camera bags, strobe lights and lenses).
Einar Sy 08-22-2007, 07:51 AM i got fired up with photoshop when the Emmerick's and Wright's demonstrate and tweak the pictures at photoshop. good thing i attended has a lot of good inputs.
John Edward Taca 08-23-2007, 02:02 AM the photo summit was really worth all the time and money!
thanks to DPP and FPPF for making it happen!
honestly, i did not expect an event packed with so much useful tips on portraiture, lighting, posing, PS and even the business side of wedding and portrait photography!
Big Congratulations to the Tuason's and company!
