barely caught the second game last saturday between harbor center & cebuana lhuiller - i actually made it during halftime. that was a three-point shootfest right there in that game! it looked like anyone coach luigi trillo put in the game managed at least a field goal, not to mention a 3-pointer!

but was glad to make it to the game and catch former admu teammates jc intal, doug kramer, and macky escalona out on the court at the same time, but sadly for different teams.

caught this "reunion" moment though, while waiting for the start of the second half:

and from the knockout match of the third game (did that make sense?) between dazz isang patak and san miguel magnolia.

dazz was pretty much into the game for most part of it, but then sm magnolia pulled away in the end. in fact, if it were not for a couple of errors in the last 3 mins or so, the outcome could've been closer than it actually was.

and furthermore, since the game decided who would advance to the quarters, with the loser having an early vacation, it was a highly physical game. under the field goal you could clearly hear the groans and shoves, and even uncalled slaps on the wrist.

dazz' reed juntilla (#8 or 14, i think) nearly brought his team back, but in the end, it was san miguel magnolia (who, i believe, has a better team on paper) who proved to be the better, and more composed, team in the end.

and so, let the quarterfinal begin!

thanks for the kind words there, allen. i still have a lot to work on, though, especially my timing and positioning. lost a lot of shots because of that.

in terms of time, well, i wish i could shoot more often, and get more chances to cover different sporting events.

Galing I like your shots a lot. I like the 4th photo the best. Hopefully I could also shoot some games of the PBL again in the future.

unfortunately, i'm not too sure of that, brian.

what i do know is that yesterday's games were part of the quarterfinal round. the newspaper reports say that the semis will be starting this week, and that the last two games were to determine who moves on to that round.

dropped by their site (www.mypbl.com (http://www.mypbl.com)) to check, but wasn't able to see any semis-round schedule.

Great set, Mark. It seems that you're getting a lot of practice. Congrats!

I like the timing in your 2nd photo (and the gameface of course) and the composition of your 5th photo.

@al, fidel, allen: thanks (once again) for all your positive feedback. am still looking to improve on my technique, and taking every opportunity that comes along to do just that. am already trying to get a media pass for the philippine open (badminton) in july so that i can shoot some fast shuttle action there.

going back to the pbl, what i'm really looking forward to, though, is the next time harbor center & cebuana lhuiller match up. i didn't have that many chances to shoot jc, doug, & macky enough in last saturday's game. but i wonder if that game will ever materialize now that the elims is over.

i was really surprised that sm magnolia didn't get to advance to the semis. with a line-up that had four feu tamaraws (villanueva, chan, barcellano, & jones) and high-scoring ue warrior bonbon custodio on the wings, on paper, they looked to have a pretty strong team. add former growling tiger aldwyn espiritu to the mix and coach koy banal, that certainly looked like a winning team to me. such a shame that i won't be able to shoot jonas & bonbon's fearless drives to the basket, or jones physical play in the shaded area.

well, there's always next conference, huh?
