I have a few Crumpler bags, very happy with them. Has better cushioning, in my opinion, than most other camera bags. :)

which models are you using/happy with/recommend?
just saw them available in virramall, kind of pricey but they sure look well thought out and stylish.

I have a Budgie Smuggler which I use when I want to go light. I think this model is no longer available. I also have a 6M Dollar Home and 7M Dollar Home. :) The Million Dollar Home series are being sold with a big discount now in Digital Walker so comes out cheaper than the U.S..

I have a 6 million dollar home crumpler bag and I bring it with me everywhere. I can even fit in my 400mm f/5.6L lens along with 2 cameras and another lens plus the other small stuff like CF cards, lens pens, batteries etc, etc, etc - Yun nga lang you have to learn how to make proper use of the space

Been using the 6 Million Dollar Home in oatmeal color for around a year already. Just gotta love those paddings. I've attached a small Lowepro belt bag on one side for the CompactDrive and CF cards so I don't have to open the bag most of the time. Haven't maximized it until now when I got the Sigma 12-24 loaner :) There's the kit lens and a 50mm there. Will take out a busted 420EX flash to make room for an 85 1.8 in the near future :)

Another vote for the 6 million dollar home. After going through a number of bags, I think this may be it. It's perfect for my needs.

I can fit my D200 with 3 medium sized lenses like the 17-55 + 10.5 fisheye + SB800.

I have a 6M and it was perfect for my D200 with 18-200 attached, 80-200 on one side, and 12-24 and 60 on the other side... until, I added a grip.

Once I find a 7M, the 6M might have to go...

Hmmm... how do you make this fit? Does your D200 have a grip? The most I get in my 6M is D200 + grip with a lens attached and either the flash or another lens but not both. :)

Hi Rosalie,

I sold my grip as I didn't like the added heft. :(
Anyways, I've arranged it in such a way that the camera with an attached lens is located in the middle position vertical to the length of the bag. Now, there would be 2 open slots on each side of the camera(top and bottom sides). Divide those slots into two via dividers and then you would have 4 semi-square compartments. Enough room for 3 lenses + the flash.

It gets really heavy though when everything is filled up.

Hope this helps.

@Zandy

With no grip, the set-up you mentioned wouldn't be a problem. :) Yup, the grip definitely adds some bulk but just gave myself time to get use to it. I really love having the vertical shutter.

i have a 7 million dollar home. works great for my stuff. i can pack in my d70, 80-200, 18-70, 70-300, 50, sb800, chargers and stuff. btw, i can store my d70 inside with any of these lenses attached (for 80-200 with hood reversed of course).

i've taken this bag everywhere. strap is long enough to be carried messenger style. padding is pretty good. i've even walked around briefly in some light rain with the bag and none of my stuff got wet.

I have the dreadful embrarrassment and $7M home. The water resistant fabric is pretty good. The water droplets don't get absorbed quickly so you have lots of time to wipe them off if you get caught in light rain. The grippy velcro that crumpler uses is both a bane and boon, it makes it hard to quickly open the flap but it definitely will keep your stuff inside. :)

oh and just to add to mark's comment on the velcro. it's pretty grippy since you can sometimes get away with carrying the bag via the handle without snaping the strap underneath (be warned though, it depends on the load as well). the thing is it's pretty noisy when opening it. :)

I have a 4 million dollar home in blue/yellow. So far so good. Benn choosing between lowepro and tamrac but ended up with this one instead. Perfect for my frequent out of town trips. Enough to securely carry my E-330 and the kit lens, plus the charger, and some filters. I think it will accomodate up to 70mm.

I like. :) Very happy with it.

if you're comfortable wearing it messenger style (which is the only way to go during long shoots where you need to have all your gear with you), then it's almost perfect. otherwise, carrying it like a shoulder bag is a major drag (again, for long shoots).

if you're going out of town, it could be a liability especially if you're going to trek. for city use, not a problem. in fact, it's pretty stylish.

another minor gripe that i have with the crumpler is that it doesn't allow for easy stowing of documents, e.g., brochures or folders. external pockets for these things are non-existent.

if you're ok with all of the above, then the crumpler is pretty decent. it's a good starter bag. happy with mine. as i said, minor gripes :)

You may call me a bag crazie but I now have the 5, 6 and 7M... and each has its own purpose.

As much as I want to sell my 5M, there is a sentimental tag attached to it. Plus, the idea of maybe someday removing the grip off my D200 and just using one lens the entire day might find the 5M useful.

My 6M is my everyday bag... houses cam with grip with my mid range lens attached plus one more lens. Yep, that's just about it.

My 7M is for days when I need to bring everything. It can house my cam with grip, 5 lenses and my flash. Now, this load weighs more than my arm and leg.

I love the water repellant feature of the material, the padding, the colors, the logo... ;-)

Same here, I'm a very satisfied owner of Crumpler 7 Mil. What I like about the bag is it can holds my 300d with grip, 17-40 f/4 and 70-200 f/4, and there's still space for the 580 EX (hope to buy next month). And the most important for me is, it does not look like a camera bag.

Backpacks are a hassle to use since you first have to remove it from your back and lay it down somewhere(hopefully not dirty) to get access to your equipment. Not helpful if change lenses often.

But how come it says on crumpler's site:
"This bag also provides Crumpler's exclusive 'slingability' for easy and secure access to the equipment compartment without fully removing the bag from one's shoulder."

have anyone tried this before?

Hooray for Crumpler ... i personally prefer the bright colored ones .. para di madali mawala at i can spot my bag a mile away just in case i forget it somewhere.

Need to upgrade to a bigger one na rin .. all these gear ... sigh. Here's a tip too - one day, i was in SM Department store and I chanced upon a school bag made by HAWK. Its a big black square trolley bag reminiscent of a pilot's bag. Its a sturdy bag that you can put a lot of stuff in (plus it has a wheels - para sa mga tamad like me). Its so sturdy - you can even sit on it! Perfect for those out of town locations (na may car ka) - and you just roll out your trolley bag with stuff inside - camera, laptop, flash, stands (if its small enough to fit), reflectors (the foldable ones). It even comes with its own "raincoat" para pag umuulan - you can just "wrap" it...

Better to check out the mentioned shop --- I heard its cheaper pa in Singapore --- so in case mapadpad ka sa Lion City - you might as well get from there ...

I don't have yet a lot of lenses so I configured the bag to slip in my PowerBook 12" if I need it to bring to shoots. My current bag contents are 1 unit Canon 350D+BG-E3 with attached 24-105 lens, 2 other small lenses, 1 flash unit and some accessories that goes into the front pocket and the mesh pocket on the main flap.

Yeah it is very heavy when I slip in my laptop + mouse + power brick but I find it better setup than lugging 2 separate Crumpler bags :)

actually thinking about this too, the problem with shoulder type is it is more tiring to carry, because it is one sided,, but buying a backpack is much easier to carry but the problem is it's accessibility to your gears,,,

I use a backpack to transport my gear on a regular basis. But I sometimes resort to using a shoulder type for some shoots.

I will often transport my gear in my backpack if I will have to travel by airplane. I will then transfer my gear and just bring along what I think I need for the day once I reach my destination.

I have a 7M. Admittedly, its big. But I got it for that reason. I tend to stick a lot of things in my bag aside from camera gear like an extra shirt, towel, mp3 player, cellphone. So far it fits my 300D with grip and 10-22 attached, flash in pouch on one side with the nifty fifty f1.8. Sigma telephoto on the other side. And still got room for a couple of more lenses or other odds and ends. I also utilized the accessory straps on the outside and attached a Winkler for my mp3 player and an old Lowepro bag for miscellaneous items (P&S camera, celphone, cigarettes). Quite happy with it:)

eto, i got sigma 18-200, lens kit 17-55, 28-135 IS attached to body, 580ex flash, battery grip, aspirator, lenspen, lens cover etc. all fits in 6m dollar home. with few square inches of space left. few meaning wala na malagay na iba. hehehe  pero i think for general purpose camera bag, enough na ang 6mil

Hi Jay, (and all others who have a 6m ) i almost have the same gear as you, 350d, sigma 18-200, kit lens, bge3 battery grip (always attached to the camera), 430ex, tamron 28-75 2.8, batterries, lenspen, etc..., however, I only have a 4M crumpler and this is a pain to fit in (the 430ex, just goes on top of everything), i leave the kit lens at home, that's about it.

I'm planning to get a canon 70-200 f4 IS (try to sell the sigma), will this somehow fit in the 6M home, plus all the other stuff I mentioned? thanks!

i think it will all fit in $6m. but you can't put anymore stuff in aside from all the stuff you mentioned. (not really sure) better bring all your gear to the store to see if it will all fit in the bag : )

i have a 7 million dollar home and it fits my camera with a lens attatched to it except the 70-200. but i have that placed on the side and an epson p4000 in the bag too! perfect combo for me! nice all around bag. pangharabas talaga!

Darryl, you should've tested them (your gears) in my bag in our last adventure in Tanay! I didn't know you were looking for crumplers then. I was using a $6M for that trip (bad idea nga, dapat Lowepro AW yung dinala ko :(). Bossing PARC brought his $7M.

haven't bought my flash that time so i was not considering to buy a crumpler bag,, :(
actually sir nel that was one of the reason i can't buy a crumpler bag,, you never know the next time it's gonna rain,, i was mighty proud of my tamrac last eb, not one drop of water inside:Grin:

Darryl Ong

Quite happy with it:)

you have a good point here,,, :) after the last marikina eb, i am looking forward to more adventures:D

but i think the advantage of having a crumpler bag is that it doesn't look like you are carrying a camera,, :D

good day sirs and ma'am's
i have a crumpler 5 million dollar home as shelter for my soon to retire f80 w/grip, 50mm and 28-200 (switching to digital before the new year). I had been using a lowepro nova aw, but the cam with the grip is hard to fit. at the same time everybody knows you have a camera..
the lowepro took a beating from me but it liked it, it kept my gear thru dust, downpours and pollution, alas its now cocooned in a plastic bag waiting for a d50/d70s and outdoor trip.
the crumpler is really good in terms of ergonomics, wide straps make it much more comfortable to carry, dissipating the the bite. the style makes the capacity bigger than it looks, the colors( i have black) make it more "relaxed" instead of looking "hard-core".
though we have to be very careful, as these bags do not offer the bulletproof protection of other bags, yes it is water resistant but only to some extent; maybe for drizzles the have in other countries but not for downpours we have here. Dust may also get in through the sides of the cover, so stay clear of dirtroads..

overall crumpler is impressive, well-thought, and ok for the price, quality is on par with tnf, deuter other quality bag manufacturers. i would recommend it for urban jaunts but use others for hardcore trips or bring a ziploc.....

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie here and this is my first post. I just got myself a new DSLR last night and I have yet to buy a home for it. Would you know
how much a Crumpler would cost? for this models: 4M, 5M, 6M? A ball park figure would do.

Thanks in advance. =)

sir i have stored my camera in in a 5m home ever since i have gotten the bag and my lowepro nova aw just wrapped in plastic for storage somewhere in the house. It have not used any bag ever since, but i clean my camera and the bag whenever i can. dust and other what-have-yous will still get into the bag since it does not have a proper cover, just a good flap with extended overlaps. i think any bag would still be susceptible to moisture no matter how sealed it is. i store some small dessicants in the bag but it i think it does not really matter that much compared to a dry cabinet. If you will be storing your camera for a long time, like i do with a lens and an old camera, try using a good plastic airtight container ( about 150 pesos or more, depending on the brand, ie. tupperware)
and tape some dessicant in the inside wall, and keep it away from sunlight. If you bought the bag, clean it often; turn it upside down and use a vacuum cleaner if you have one. if you really want the crumpler bag but doubt its weatherproofing capability, add a gallon-sized ziploc bag, ducttape its side and bottom, tape a small dessicant in the inside and keep it in your bag for your camera just in case you're caught in a sudden torrential downpour, sandstorm or a sinking boat.

for fungus, if molds started appearing in your lenses, have them cleaned because it you have a lot of them, they'll be much harder to remove and may take out the lens coatings with them.

Bad experience with Digital Walker recently... a friend was looking for a particular bag and bucket. They had both available but in different branches so asked if could be picked up in 1 store instead. They checked the warehouse and there was stock of the bag so the branch (where the bucket was available) place an order so my friend can get both bag and bucket together. Guess what? after 2 or 3 weeks of following-up, my friend got tired of following-up if ready for pick-up so got another bag instead. And this is for a bag that was in stock in their warehouse...

I have gone through couple of crumpler bags and still have 2 of them, though they look nice and don't look like your regular camera or computer bags, they are also not as well padded (or at least padded in the wrong place) as camera or computer specific bags.

My laptop got a crack, because the area on the corners are only lightly padded. On my crumpler 7mil bag, the top part has no padding, so anything dropping on top of it, may damage your equipment.

I still prefer my Lowepro backpack for a more secure bag and with my computer bag, I had no choice but to buy a padded sleeve before putting the computer in the bag.

guys,, is it true that it is more expensive to buy crumpler bags at the serendra store? digital walker gives 10% discount to podcentral members ( and you have to pay in cash ) while i think the serendra store offers 15% discount...
yup,i think it is more expensive to buy crumpler bags at the serendra, their 6million dollar home costs 4200 (that's with discount already, read that somewhere) but in digitalhub in robinsons manila, 4250 regular price :)

Planning in getting either the Bazillion Dollar or the 7Million $ home and put up my 6Million$ home for sale. to help defray the cost. Ijust wish Crumpler bags have more top protection as it is virtually unpadded on top and also a better seal/zip cover will prevent debris from going into the bag from the side of the top flaps. :)

hi!

i'm planning on getting a home for my camera. :) would the 4 million dollar home be a good fit for a nikon D50? i don't want to lug around a big gear bag. just want something small and casual so i can easily get around :) would appreciate any comments ;)

Hi Gio:

Welcome to DPP!

The 4M$ home would fit your Nikon D50 ALONE (kit lens attached to the body) and no other accessories whatsoever. You might want to check out the 5M$ home, which is slightly larger.

@Gio,

The 4M Dollar Home will definitely be a good choice for you as Carlo mentioned. I bought one myself a couple of months back for my D70s and 18-200 VR. I'm also able to squeeze in my SB-800 in there together with my cam and lens attached. The divider also helps a lot keeping my gear scratch-free. Really great during days when you have no plans to lug around all your gear.

well based on their website, it would fit the D70 (with kit lens, + another lens or flash)

on another note...looks like i didn't go for the D50...just got the D40. still a good camera..and my issue with the size isn't really much of a bother. :D

anyway, would just like to ask for comments if it would do good in a 4mil home or a 5mil home?

you might want to visit the crumpler store in the fort or any of the digital walker branches (they're loaded with crumpler bags and others) with your camera to try them out with your camera.

that's what i did. right after i bought my camera, i went straight to digital walker at parksquare (love their service) and bought a bag and screen protector. brought my camera and tried out all sorts of bags :)

sakto lang the D40 for the 4mil home if it's just the body w/ kit lens attached + either a flash or extra lens :)

plus you can bring small things like extra batteries, cables etc

The 1st prize winner got a Brazillion Dollar Home, which she promptly sold for only P9.6T. The winner later stated that she had to share the winnings with her sister, who took the pics. Her entry was a pic of herself in 4 poses with the Crumpler logo and some aboriginal art drawn all over her hands and arms. It was a cute pic indeed... :)

Here's a link (http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=20568&page=8&highlight=crumpler+party) to the pic of the winning entry...

Sorry if my reply's coming in late. I was out of town the last three days.

Anyway, here's how I do it. Fold your SB-800 to its 90 deg position and slip it down one side of the bag head down, with the lcd side against the inner side wall of the 4M. Adjust the divider with the flap side up so it keeps the flash from moving around. Fold the flap so it covers the the flash's contacts. You've now created a space for your D70s and 18-200 on one side of the bag. Simply slip your cam+lens combo (with hood installed in reverse position) lens down as if you're using a holster type bag. You'll find you even have some space left for your stock diffuser dome just beside the grip part of your cam body and right over the flap.

On my last trip, I was able to fit my D70s+18-200, SB-800, a CPL with its case, stock diffuser dome, 4 AA batts in a key holder type container, extra CF card, mini lenspen, a small microfiber towel, and Brian Lim's White Balance Cap all in the 4M Dollar Home. Makes one tidy, little package.

HTH

Hi guys!
I'm a big Crumpler user too.
I have 2 laptop bags (McBain's Baby & Breakfast Buffet), 1 pouch for my P&S (John Thursday), and an all-around gadget bag as well (The Son-O).

I bought a $4M Home before to fit a D40 w/ 18-200VR and SB-400.
Then I started lugging around a Sigma 10-20mm, and somehow I was able to fit it all in the bag.
Finally, I decided to dump the SB-400 in favor of a full sized SB-800, which needed a lot more space.
So now I replaced my bag with a Crumpler $5M Home, and everything fits just right.

Given also that I've grown to like Crumpler so much, I also got a larger $7M Home to fit my D80 and all my other lenses and accessories.
I was surprised that I was able to fit all of this stuff into the $7M Home: D80 w/ Nikon 18-200VR, SB-800 w/dome attached, Sigma 2x TC, Nikon 50mm f/1.8D, Sigma 10-20mm, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 (!?!), 4 spare AA batts, 1 spare EN-EL3e, ML-L3 remote, spare SD card, 3M lens cleaning cloth, and 1 72mm CPL.

Now my 2 cameras have their own Crumplers, and I can just bring whichever I need anytime. :)

I dont have a vertical grip..so I wouldnt know. But $4M Home would be tight for the vertical grip. I'd say you would have to go at least $5M or maybe even $6M

Its small, but can fit a 15in laptop, a pair of shoes, 5 shirts for the Main compartment. The camera compartment fits my D80 with kit lens and 50 f1.8. It could still fit an external flash and a mid range zoom lens.

Got a Wickey & Cox from the Crumpler Store at BHS earlier this week. It replaced my old Base Toucher, now that I need to carry both my camera and my laptop. As expected the bag is really padded, and looks sturdier than anything out there, BUT its also quite heavy.

It has two compartments, one for the laptop, and a detachable "basket" of sorts that has rearrangeable velcro and foam compartments, great for customizing depending on the size of your lens. You can also stuff miscellaneous nick knacks, plugs and whatnots.

My only complaint is there's no space to stash my papers and a notebook.

Have the red 7 million dollar home which I got from Singapore about two months ago. Saved about PhP1K by getting it from there. Very :):) with it and now contemplating of getting the Wickey and Cox so I do not have to carry a separate case for my laptop.
