Well, I got some lenses, but metering is erratic on my K10D, at least, with apertures 5.6 and above. I think I've got everything set up, the allow aperture ring, camera in M mode, green button for stop down metering.
Anything else I can do aside from making guesstimates? Medyo erratic talaga yung metering. It's underexposing, but the bigger problem is that there's no set number of stops for the underexposure, it's not linear, so hindi ganun kadali mag-dial-up na lang ng extra x number of stops or so by habit. :D

I just replied to you in the Woohoo! thread...:)

Yup, I used the green button as well as the DOF preview switch. Still underexposes from f/8 and above. It's weird, really...
There are other variables that may keep you from metering properly. Are you set at evaluative, center-weighted or spot? Remember, if it is a manual focus lens, the focus point defaults to the middle of the screen, and if it is set a spot metering, all you are measuring is the 3 degrees in the middle. That could throw you off.

i tried using different apertures and shot the same subject. i don't think i deviated much from the middle spot. i found that the meter suggested the same shutter speed (using the green button) from f/8 and up.
i've read in another forum that changing the focusing screen to the *ist D or DS ones will help a lot, but then the metering problems they had with the K10D is one of overexposure and not underexposure, as is my problem. it's weird, really.
do i have a dud camera? :(

I'm thinking the lenses might have sticky aperture blades, but that would usually lead to over-exposure not under. You were metering properly naman with the kit lens (I assume) so there's nothing wrong with the camera per se (or the screen). Hmmm...all the more reason to fiesta. EB tayo and figure things out over coffee.

Unfortunately, this is a known problem with the K10D. Manual lenses seem to have erratic metering on the K10D. :(
