jiu jitsu in competition is like other ball games that coach could yale or shout something at their playing athletes.

in jiu jitsu, the premium is in technique, not in size....here is a bout between a warrior from team guam (and winner of the most technical fighter award) against a player from bangkok fight club (i think)

the size difference is obvious (absolute division, so open weight)...an attempt at a triangle by team guam was being countered by an attempt to lift the player off but at the end, the triangle ended up in the lower position as team guam never let go (next photo)...pure technique

the competition not only brought out the best jiu jitsu fighters from the philippnes, but the event was also graced by mike fowler, the pan american jiu jitsu champion and veteran of almost all type of jiu jitsu/grappling events all over the world

here he is coaching coaching for team guam...he also doubled as a referee...prior to coming here he just competed in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club championship, finishing 4th place after beating the likes of renzo gracie and & saulo ribeiro
