View Full Version : Focusing Screens for E-1
JonDexterTan 07-29-2006, 07:04 AM I'm using the FS-2 focusing screen on my E-1 and I am not going to take it off -- ever! well, at least not for now! :D it works as well as my ol' D70s' grid!
so who else is using add-on focusing screens on their E-1? :)
bert dalusung 07-29-2006, 07:36 AM I have one like that for my OM-1n. Very useful for composition, I hope Axis Global will have them available locally.
JonDexterTan 07-29-2006, 07:41 AM they should, i ordered mine from hongkong at i higher price than Axis had listed here sa pinas.
Tok Paler 07-31-2006, 08:19 PM Do you just stick the FS-2 in there? I'm almost too afraid to do anything in there, it's almost like getting your breasts done or something, lol
JonDexterTan 08-01-2006, 05:51 AM Hi Tok! it's easier than you'd think. I thought I'd be having a hard time installing it but it took me just a few seconds. :D and it is worth it!
Tok Paler 08-01-2006, 11:18 PM Hmmmm... I was thinking of getting one myself.. the Focusing screen, i mean! Hehehehe =b
JonDexterTan 08-01-2006, 11:35 PM you won't regret it! :D

If you have the E-300, I don't think the focusing screen is user replaceable. There is no Olympus focus screen accessory for that model. But I think there's Katz Eye but it affects the metering system.
JonDexterTan 08-07-2006, 06:53 PM FS-2 is compatible only with the E-1. I didn't know the E-300's focusing screen is user replacable :D does your E-1 sport the FS-2, Norman?
I really liked one of Kayz Eye's designs but like norman said, affects the metering system especially in small aperture.
Norman_P._Aquino 08-07-2006, 07:02 PM Dexter,
No, I don't have it but I'm thinking of getting one and the EP-2. Don't know where. But would have liked less lines -- two vertical lines and two horizontal lines across the thirds would have been better, I think.
JonDexterTan 08-07-2006, 07:05 PM yeah, when I got the FS-2 I was thinking -- "oops, that's way too many lines than my D70s", but it doesn't bother me now. Better to have too many than none at all. You think the EP-2 can help lessen the smudging on my viewfinder's glass? damn that's my problem! hahaha!

Norman_P._Aquino 08-07-2006, 07:08 PM Probably, since it's deeper, I think. I've read it also cuts out extraneous light entering the field of view between your eye socket and the rear ocular, which can spoil the finder image under the high sun. It should also make metering more accurate, I guess.
JonDexterTan 08-07-2006, 07:11 PM well let me know. you might want to contact dindin on this forum, i got my FS-2 from her. :D
