Aside from SB 400, SB 600 and SB 800, what are the other flash that are compatible with the Nikon D40? The cheaper the better... :)

Try Nissin 622i... almost comparable to SB-800... with wireless mode and i-TTL... but I guess almost same price as the SB-600.

i think you should stick with these three.. don't even consider buying other brands coz you might encounter some compatibility problems.. get the best one you can afford, if you don't have the dough yet, then save up. you won't regret a good flashgun.

You can opt for 3rd party manual flashes... Nissin or any other not-so-popular brands... even 2nd-hand units... they will work for you but only in Manual shooting mode since your flash will no longer be in TTL mode.
