Here's an interesting article on boobies from Wikipedia:
“Boobies are spectacular divers, plunging into the ocean at high speed. They mainly eat small fish or squid that gather in groups near the surface. Although they are powerful and agile fliers, they are particularly clumsy in takeoffs and landings.”

The shots were taken from a speedboat since the island is off-limits to tourists.

Wow, great captures :) I can't help but laugh at what they're called though :D

Amazing shots, hope to get to do something like this in the future.

Marton,
Funny, isn't it. Their name probably comes from the Spanish bobo, which you and I know the meaning of. =B)

Nice shots Norman. I've been to Tubbataha once but that was way back in '96!

TJ, Romy, Lester, Reyno and Gil, thanks.
Romy, one question. Which metering do you use for a bird in flight -- spot or center weighted? Or do you still go manual? Thanks master. =B)

"off limit'? How to get near to the island?

1. Where is the jump-off
2. any idea where to hire a speed boat?
