View Full Version : Upcoming DPP Forum Features
Nick Tuason 07-21-2006, 06:17 AM To all our Members I would like to proudly mention some upcoming features that you will see on this forum. Hopefully, in about two weeks you will see established here:
1) Chat Room- Nino Pasamonte has already designed the engine for this and we are just doing a beta run behnd the scenes. The Chat Room will not be a permanent feature. It will only go on when we announce a certain topic for discussion like, "Rosscapili: Techniques for Digital Fine Art Photography, Wednesday 8pm to 10pm. The master will share his techniques for capturing, post processing, and printing Fine Art Photographs. Join us during this time to be able to chat and learn with Rosscapili" (just an example Ross :) )
2) Interactive Product Review- The engine for this is already finished. We are now compiling our reviews. Hopefully in two weeks we are finished. The Review section will be interactive. DPP will give the first review of the product and members who have used the product will be allowed to make their own review and provide their comments. There will be a live Rating for each product that will be an average of the reviewers scores. At least with this review, you get real world feedback straight from first hand user experience.
3) Workshop Schedules- we have several moderators who are active in providing workshops. A separate site will be set up that will announce the different workshops going on around the country, the description, contact details, prices, etc.
That's all for now.
tj_parpan 07-21-2006, 10:26 AM I think the product reviews will be very helpful. Fred Miranda's forum has a goodd way of centralizing the reviews. Looking forward to the new features!

Ooh  I need this, need some workshops :)
jonathan_rosal 07-21-2006, 10:51 AM Wow this is great! Will the chat room be a 'net meeting' type where we are able to visually follow what the facilitator/speaker is discussing? (i.e. if he has photoshop open, we'll actually see what he is doing in it).
edlin_roguel 07-21-2006, 11:08 AM ....."Rosscapili: Techniques for Digital Fine Art Photography, Wednesday 8pm to 10pm. The master will share his techniques for capturing, post processing, and printing Fine Art Photographs.......
It will be most exciting if Sir Ross will really do this for the launching of the chat feature.
rosalie_gomez 07-21-2006, 04:20 PM Looking forward to these, especially the workshops! :)

It will not be a 'net meeting' type jonathan, for now it will just be a normal IRC type chatrooms.

Roro Fernandez 11-16-2006, 07:54 AM More features to get hooked on DPP. Great stuff Nick. Looking forward to. I would be very interested on the Interactive Review thingy :)
raymund_madronero 11-16-2006, 08:20 AM With more features coming, I think Nick and Nino P must prepare their lawyers as the the corporate slaves among us here start filing class suits because our corporate masters will start firing us for unproductiveness due to DPP addiction. (a la class suits filed against tobacco manufacturers in the US) hehehe
maris lim 11-28-2006, 11:03 PM i'm definitely looking forward to the product review section. this site nicely compliments the magazine which fueled my interest in photography. thanks!

Yes yes ... workshops would be good :D Something like what the Iloilo guys had with Mr. Librodo or even as simple as "getting the most out of your offcam flash."

Jay Aldrich Cu 01-09-2007, 02:08 PM cool!!! really looking forward to these features!
Erick_Magpili 01-26-2007, 06:52 PM Quote from another thread:
...We can also include a cd on the local version but it if we do, we will have to sell the magazine for 395.00 or more. (U.K is 895.00) ....
--
A DPP mag with a CD freebie will definitely have its good points (interesting, informative materials being ready/compiled on a portable media), and bad points (additional costs to DPP, which can translate to addtl magazine cost, it might also delay magazine production/release)..
... and with that comes this recommended forum feature, which some might have already thought about: a "Download" module .. this, in an alternative way, would address the CD issue (resource, materials for the subscriber)..
Regards to DPP (Magazine and Forum teams) and more power!

jerrytieng 02-19-2007, 01:47 PM I respectfully move that we have a DPP wiki (collaborative knowledgebase) implemented.
There's a lot of requests for information being repeated and the knowledge embodied in the threads is better digested/presented in a wiki after the discussion/argument/sharing has been completed.
