Unless you are able to run through their feature, you can't really tell which of them is better. Sometimes, I almost give up working with Neat Image, but to my surprise, learning some of its feature through its manual, makes me keep using it.

One example is color banding... I often have this problem and I though it was Neat Image's problem. But no! It was the problem of the CRT not being able to display true colors. And you can have a work around by lessening the noise reduction on high frequency noice... and you will have a nice photo.

If I did not read about it, I would have concluded that Neat Image is no good.

P.S.

I also like NJ sometimes. :D

nice one jim! I also use the ninja myself as I like it's auto profiling of my photos taken in different ISO settings. :D

your definitely right... maybe how the user use the software... cause im not a neatimage user so i dont have any idea how to process and manipulate photos. as what a said those two photos were taken from the other forum then i use noise ninja for the 3rd photo just to compareand have another option to process photos...

I agree with Jimmy that Noise Ninja did a better job than Neatimage but personally I have no problem with the grain on the original image. I would have left it as is but that's just me. I use Noise Ninja in cases when there is a wider contrast range and the shadows show blotches of color.

This is what I call the plastic mannequin look. The Noise Ninja cleanup looks like this guy just went and got a face lift and skin peeling. I don't think most guys want to look like that. I'm not saying that I like noise. I actually find it irritating. However, unless you are really tring to create a certain effect, noise means that you didn't the get exposure properly. Unless an image is truly worth saving in a noise filter, you're better off trashing it and taking a better photo.

gabriel,
youre probably right... but the aplication is not for person only... i just give a sample to choose from.. an option... in real world we can not go back for the exact moment that has been captured... the only thing we can do is to edit... and not all of us got a good technique and good camera to use.......... just me..
