Got my D200 December 2005. Noticed that the mirror locks up when my aperture is at its widest (i.e 3.5 in an 18-200mm). What i do is press the DOF button to "reset" the mirror. In situations where light is a problem and the camera is pushed to select its widest aperture, after taking the shot, the viewfinder gets dark. It happens to other lenses so i figured its not a lens problem. Otherwise the camera has been banged up abused and thrown around travelling the last 6 months. Any answers ? benjamin

have it checked at columbia. probably a misaligned mirror due to shock. I think its the body not the lenses. my two cents

Dr Benajmin Campomanes? is this you? :)

my problem with d200.

last week i purchased my d200. Yesterday, i turned on the grid lines in the viewfinder then i shot the monitor of my laptop. what i found out troubled me. when i took the shot, i aligned the horizontal grid with a horizontal line in the monitor. Yet, when i viewed the picture in the lcd, camera monitor, the same line was not horizontal anymore. the left end of the line was nearer to the bottom of the monitor. It was slightly slanted down to the left.

any suggestions to what i should do? Do i bring it to Columbia or the seller? tnx.

this doesnt sound good.

you're probably thinking that you were better off with the other one huh? :Grin:

being banged up for travel shouldnt do that to a camera. my experience with the d70 with the same problem i found out, was that there was sand that somehow got into the shutter mechanism. these things happen especially when you change lenses often and not careful about it.

send it to nikon in HK and they should be able to fix it. you'd have your camera back here in a week and a half, 2 weeks tops.

I know there arent any certified service centers here guys but its really not that difficult to send stuff to HK back and forth. My friend who sports the "other" brand had it sent to manila for some problems and he got his back in a month and a half! So "they" have a service center here...but who cares? they arent fast enough...

Peace,

G.

@Gahum

you sent your unit to HK for repairs?
how much did it cost you?

Who is the reseller, if you don't mind? That is one good in-store warranty. This will be my next purchase. TIA

Good vendors should be complimented and rewarded with more customers.
