A woeful tale of bad service reported on the Luminous Landscape from Canon USA with similar reports from Canon UK and Australia. I can only assume that Canon Philippines would take the same line. I'm now happy that I didn't shell out my money for this over priced (local price) printer.

Is there any users of this printer here?

On the contrary Mike I think its a wonderful printer. Reichmann on Luminous Landscape owns one personally and if I recall correctly, the only complaint he has about the printer is that Canon should have more documentation.
Don't knock it till you try it. I have and it is amazing. In fact, we will be featuring this printer in an upcoming DPP Issue.

The report published today in the Luminous Landscape states "Don't buy this printer" with a reservation "Do not but this printer in the USA" though he does state that users in the UK and Aussie have reported similar issues. Michael Reichmann has published this report from the creator of the Canon Wiki. I hold Michael Reichmanns reviews in high regard, he would not have published this if he did not in part agree with some of the findings of the report.
The reports author does say that when it works the printer is fantastic but that there is far to many problems/service calls etc to justify laying out $2,000 (I forget just how much more it is in the Philippines) when you compare it to the current competition.
As to the printers output, I have spent quite a bit of time with a friend who works in Cathay Photo examining the output form this printer. Yes, its excellent but if so many users are reporting all these problems in 1st world country's what is the chances of getting satisfactory service in a third world country.

Everyone can have their own opinion.
Yes, you've seen the output and I agree with you that its exceptional. Canon is the only true 12-ink machine on the market today providing a larger gamut than its competitors and without having to change black inks for matte or glossy printing.
If the issue you worry about is local service, I bet you will get better service here than elsewhere. Why? Because there will be less users and you can get personal attention. And if you meet someone such as Tin Dolovino from the large format division of Canon, I'm sure you'll be re-assured of their service.

Service does worry me, living in the Province has its advantages but there sure is some BIG disadvatages.
Maybe I should go to Marvin Plaza and see just what the local service is like.
