a lot of people have complemented me on my photos online & of course, who know s if they have been saving these for personal use. in these cases, is there anyway i can get copyright on my images, giving me profit as well?

By law, you automatically own the copyright of the images once you click the shutter to create them. (Unless you were regularly employed as a photographer and those particular images were taken as part of your job, in that case the employer owns the copyright). The problem though is enforcing it on the net. There is no way to prevent people from saving a copy of your image. It is a risk one takes when posting on the net.
If you are bothered by people's unauthorized usage you can do the ff:
1. put your name across a portion of it or use a watermark - it may obstruct a full appreciation for the image but it hinders some uses for it in case someone tries to steal it
2. display very small and low resolution versions of it - it again limits appreciation of the image but it hinders people from using it for print purposes

If you use a site like flickr to display your photos, flickr automatically resizes the photos to a small version.

thanks for all your replies.. i was thinking there was a way for photographers to automatically submit their photos & have it registered online or something.. i guess watermarks are ok..
