I got several shoots set-up for my portfolio (xdeals and a couple of sittings).. mostly location, thing is... it is quite expensive to rent out lights (specially if you can set-up all models for the same day etc...) when your still starting out and not really earning now from the shots.

I saw this photographers group and got the idea of buying lights as a GROUP INVESTMENT.

We buy as a group.. chip in to get our lighting set complete then we get to book the lights on a first come first served basis... (saves us the cost of buying our own set now... specially if you dont get shoots as often to justify buying a whole set for yourself..

maybe we can start with two heads, modifiers and stands... etc... maybe a lightmeter...

maybe aspiring photographers from the same area... say qc to facilitate delivery and return of equipment.. we designate a "keeper" etc etc.. just ideas im throwing out to the group.

any takers?

You might just be better off renting a studio for a few hours and take advantage of what lights they have available. Louie Aguinaldo's DPI offers this but I don't know what they have there in terms of set up.

dpi is perfect for studio needs (just not sure if they have the seemless white available again, but you can always use the walls :D ) but if i need lights for a location... it can get a bit expensive...

if it works for pro's (my idea) to pool their resources to save up on initial costs.. maybe it can work for starting out photographers like me on a tight budget

hope to get say two or three people interested ( the pro's who do it have four photographers in their group...)
