Wow, it looks about the same size as the 14-50mm. The E-410 with this lens would be smaller than the Nikon D40x + 18-200VR.

I think Olympus already released a replacement model for the E-1...though it's named P-1 rather than E-3

The E-1 replacement has been announced (http://www.olympus-global.com/en/news/2007a/nr070305edeve.cfm) but not yet released.
