Guys,
Would just like to get your recommendations for a Circular Polarizer for my Tokina 12-24. I've read that the slim versions are recommended for the ultra-wides. Thanks!

nikon circular polarizer II or a Marumi cpl and yes a slim or thin CPL is recommended. Let's wait for Levi to chime in too, he knows more of this stuff.

Yes, Slim Filterters, may it be a CPL or just a UV protection. This is to avoid vignetting. Other than that, thick and thin version of the same filter will not matter.

You definitely need the thin filter for your Tokina 12-24 or else you will see vignetting even at 15mm and below. I use the Marumi thin (with thread) DHG CPL for my Tokina but will cost you a little more than p3k. You can get the B+W CPL (w/o thread) from ebay as another option for almost the same price.
Hope this helps.

@ ronald
yes, you would be needing a thin type CPL for your tokina 12-24. based from experience - i get vignetting using my regular Cokin CPL @ 12mm, but it goes away @ 13mm/14mm.
i tried using marumi CPL and vignetting is not an issue on all focal length. just like the above poster its around 3k++ (vs the 2k++ for the Cokin).
i believe this is where the Nikkor 12-24 stands out vs my Tokina. I tried the same regular Cokin CPL to my friend's Nikkor and no vignetting whats so ever!
One thing is certain - go get a CPL (regardless!!)... and dont go on vacation without it :D

Thanks for the inputs, guys. Will definitely consider the Marumi brand. Is this widely available in HK?
What about the Hoya CPLs, which model/series should I consider?
