Anyway, I happened to be in Quiapo yesterday (it wasn't planned) accompanying some friends buying DVDs, then we passed by Hidalgo, and I saw this shop selling lenses (2nd hand), and I saw that lens. I've tried it out before on a camera where I work, and I think it's okay. It does flatten out the background, even with only an aperture of 4.5, and when I tried putting it at ISO 1600, I could shoot at safe handheld speeds. Anyway, the question is, is it worth buying even though it's been discontinued and it's 2nd hand? The lady at the shop told me it was 12k. Is that a correct price?

is this the MarkI or Mark II?...if its the markI its too expensive for the kind of lens without the USM. i had this lens as a KIT with my 300D acquired from europe.

It's the USM version ha, not the cheapie black thing without the gold band. It has the gold band. Haha. According to Internet research, it has been discontinued, so I only saw this at the place which sells 2nd hand lenses. :D It was also in Hidalgo.

It has the roman numeral II on it. So I guess that's Mark 2? Tsaka it has the gold band around it, so that's a USM right?

One of these descriptions is the correct one:

well if its the MarkII the price on a second hand is worth it. it cost $218 in bhphoto.com.

P11,300 at photoworld price... i dont know the regular price for this. i saw it also in hidalgo, at acel... they're giving it to me at P9500... but i think its not in mint condition... so i would rather buy new one na lang..

I think it's a mark 2.By the way guys, I'm from davao and I'm also looking for this lens. I've been calling mayer and no one answers. Can anybody help me where I can find this Mark 2 lense with made in Japan version?I also mean what store in quiapo?

sige noel, I'll wait for your update.As you see I was having this delimma choosing between a 28-105 and a 28-135 IS.

pros for the 28-105:
1. prize- roughly 10t
2. reviews seemed to tell that this produces a better picture
3. since i'm going to HK next month the prize would give me a chance to buy another
lens(Sigma 10-20)

pros for the 28-135:
1. the IS but the prize in quiapo is P22,500
2. better zooming capability

Guys, I need some help .I prefer the 28-105 for the reasons above but if i can't find it then i will prefer the latter.need some further advice on this.

2ndly, pls advice me if indeed i have to buy this lens here in quiapo or in HK.
Prizes in HK based on this site http://www.ygdragon.net/ tells me that the lens here are cheaper than in HK. So I need advice too especially for the guys who have been buying lenses in HK.Hope to hear from you soon.Thanks.
