i have the slik for a K10D and a 500mm lens since it is a little bit lighter. but i would prefer the velbon for panoramic shots. both are enough to hadle your gear. I also use a med. format camera with the SLIk.

maybe just wait for the manfrotto to become available  there's no problem with the other two but there are more choices in tripod heads for the manfrotto

dude you've got a very good and expensive system...they deserve nothing less than a manfrotto or a gitzo!

yes they do run out of stock often...when i bought my 488 ballhead, 3 arrived taht day and 2 are already reserved! if i arrived an hour later this unit may have been sold out na rin!

why not go for a gitzo? i saw a lot of good models in henry's...wish i had it nga instead of my 055 PRO :) hehehe

does henry's sells gitzo? are the prices comparable to hongkong or US?

back to the topic, i know that there will be new manfrotto shipments coming in anytime soon. i think for best in value, nothing beats manfrotto.

not sure with the prices...i'll be dropping by henry's later (to get my D200 woohoo ) update you tom on the prices.

comparing the 2 brands, i don't think one is better than the other. you wont go wrong with either of the 2. and you're right! giottos pala kay henry's! dang! eitherway, i think it's a reliable brand din.

as for my tripod...hmmm...let me check later...if i get the urge to replace mine will advise you :)

I think the gitzo is a very stable tripod because the legs are held by a threaded sleeve around the leg joints which you could tighten as hard as u can by hand and make the joints more firmly aligned. I tried the mountaineer carbon fiber and loaded it with about 12 pounds of load: D70, 70-200 VR 2.8 with 1.7 tele-extender and a bogen gear head. It held up pretty well. The carbon fiber usually runs at about $550 and the aluminum alloy is about half that price.

why don't you consider Benro, mine is Benro A-197. It carries my D80+grip +70-300 lens.
