help.. my friend is selling his 20D at 45K and i'm really confused if i would buy the 2nd hand professional 20D camera or a brand new 400D semi-pro camera. i'm also considering the 30D but i would like to ask if anyone knows the price of it at hidalgo.

a 30d body (no kit lens) would cost around 53-54k in hidalgo. A 20d body is not sold anymore in hidalgo except i saw watsons selling a 20d body for 47k...brandnew. those are the prices ive seen in hidalgo.

prices may change without prior notice. :)

if a 5k difference would matter then go for the 20D but the resale value would be a lot less than a 30D.

Go for the 30D or maybe try a D80 kit for 56K

there must be a reason why the thread starter delimited the choices to three CANON bodies.....else, he would just have asked, "whats the best camera to get at XX price range."

@armando

if you're getting the 2nd hand 20D, check if it has been well used. you might not be getting youre money's worth if the shutter count is already near its cycle limit.

30d - worth it...

jay, how exactly do we get the shutter count?

afaik, only canon service can do this. hmmm, let me get back to you on this sir hochi. there might be a utility available for checking this out.

What forum would this be? :)

Off topic, am a noob here in DPP, does this forum have a Marketplace section? If none, any plans of having one?

thanks!

Ain't it that the LCD of the 20D is much better than the 30D?

OT: Just a newbie question sir, what will happen if the camera has exceeded its (shutter) cycle limit? Thanks!

it bogs down and you have the shutter assembly serviced or replaced. anyhow, in the case of the 30D for instance, the 100,000 shutter cycle life is just an estimate...

I think shutter assembly replacement is around 3500 pesos....so that would be another 100,000 shots more

A bit late to the party...

Was able to buy a used 20D for 38K. Came with two extra batteries, eyepiece extender, kit lens and filter.

Of course, if one can afford a brand new 30D, why not? Or a brand new 400D if you don't need the differentiating features of the 30D? :D

I have a 30D and a 400D. Between the 2, I love the 30D more in terms of build quality and performance functions. However, with the 400D, its easier and faster to see you settings cause its diplay it on the LCD monitor.

bro, definitely, if you have the money, buy the 30D. rather than the 20D kaya nga nag upgrade ang canon kasi they found an improvement. same as the case of 350d and 400d

ngayun, between 30d and 400d, iba talaga. pag presyu ang pinag usapan, 400d. so if you can make tiis and save more money in fewer months...get the brand new 30d. as you have said, 20d or 30d is a pro cam not unlike the 400d, its a low end dslr. syanga pala, new 30d now comes with an "IS LENS KIT"(image stabilizer) so konting tiis at pag hihintay lang.

if you are just starting in dslr photography naman, i suggest you get the 400d. it eaisier to explore and a very nice camera..handy, light, nice features too...dont get or buy the one with kit lens!!! buy the body alone. then buy the 18-200mm lens of sigma and the nifty 50mm canon lens..then the 580exII then the battery grip..

if you became serious in photography, thats the time to upgrade your camera...get the 30d na or even the 5d. since kung serious ka na, you might need 2 cams talaga.

I'd go for the 30D.In fact, when I was thinking of getting the 400D before as a back up for my 30D.When,I tried out the 400D when it first came out, well,I ended up getting another 30D as I liked it much better.

i got myself a 400d last monday. reason? its 10mp and its speed is fast enough for me and with a batt grip its also big enough and price is cheaper. it is also prosumer like 350d, 300d, 10d, 20d and 30d.

i chose 400d i dont have such big hands for the 30d.. tamang tama lang asian ed 400d with battery grip to balance it. ewan ko lang pag nilagyan ko ng sobrang habang sports lens kung kaya ng body.

maybe later on ill shift, but for me 400d complements me very well.. i need to shoot fast and simpler. i like the controls of 30d but it will surely take some time in my shooting.

i myt have closed the door for the 30d, but there is always the window
