Cezar H. Zarate, Jr. 03-01-2007, 11:48 AM Hi guys,
I've been wanting to purchase a flash bracket. What brand do you recommend? How much? Where can I get one in Hidalgo? I've seen Manfrotto http://www.manfrotto.com/Jahia/site/manfrotto/pid/2808, but where can I get one? I already ask Island photo.

I have the Pro-T and the RRS B-series flash brackets, both of which I like a lot. Unlike a lot of the other flash brackets where you attach the camera to the bracket (and hold the bracket), these brackets attach to the camera and allows you to handle the camera and the lens as you normally would without the bracket getting in your way.
But when I need something compact and inconspicuous which can be left attached to the camera with or without the flash, the RRS B-series bracket is my choice. Another useful feature of the RRS bracket is the ability to add another flash holder to it, so that two flash units can be mounted on it and used for close-up or macro work (emulating the Canon macro twin flash except bigger and heavier). :)

a friend of mine uses that flash bracket... i wouldn't recommend it... its quite bulky...
vicoyrisma 03-22-2008, 01:50 PM I really like how that RRS B-Series flash bracket looks. But, it is "muy expensivo..." I just got myself a Versaflip Flash Bracket. Available online with local shipping from EchoStore (http://echografika.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=50&Itemid=37).

the problem with the versa flip is that it becomes a bit unstable when you extend it vertically to fit in a bigger camera body... i wanted to get this but opted not too because of that issue with the 40d and grip attached... i wonder if there is a local seller for the rrs brackets...
vicoyrisma 04-04-2008, 12:02 AM The Versaflip is not really unstable. There is just mild play at landscape mode due to the extended arm. At portrait mode, however, the bracket become very stable. I myself use it on a 40D with a BG-E2N.

where can you buy these here locally? I went to hidalgo awhile ago and cant find one flash bracket for macro.
David Tong 08-30-2008, 02:24 PM Question: if you don't use your flash directly (meaning the subject never sees the main flash fresnel front), will a bracket still be useful? I seem to notice that flash bracket users tend to work with the flash facing the subject and not using it for bounce-flash... Rookie question, sorry :)

alain: im not sure if you can. but you can try going to their website and check if they ship internationally. even here in the US, i had to order it directly from them.
Alain L Aw 08-30-2008, 09:11 PM David, sorry i dont know how to answer to your question. Im not a strobist :) all i want is just to illuminate small things hehe.
Jerome, thanks man. Ill just have to make one by myself instead. shipping from the US takes too much time :) and in a month Im leaving for abroad :)
chester_tan 01-08-2009, 04:50 PM Echostore doesn't sell Versaflip anymore. Anybody know anybody selling it and for how much?
teybartolome 04-08-2009, 08:42 PM i'm digging up this thread! :D
anyway, guys, what's the best bracket for you? i've been reading replies here but none was said the best.
Fherdy Tiongson 04-08-2009, 10:12 PM @ Al
It is good flash bracket but to expensive. And will add weight in your DSLr.
I own the portrait Perfect 89 for my D300 w/MB-D10.
Looks robot when you installed it.
Can't shoot for more than 4hrs w/ Zoom lenses I need my monopod for that.
