felicianolegara 01-09-2012, 09:10 AM thank you sir michael and victor! upon seeing your photos, I decided to extend my Fuji X10 savings a bit further to grab this one instead.. used to own a GF1 and I loved it so much that selling it became one of my biggest regrets as I had the 20mm f1.8 with it. Hope by next month I could share some photos here.. *fingers crossed*
RickySandoval 01-09-2012, 11:48 AM Wow, this looks very good. Man, I got rid of the GH2 and thought that I would be rid of any new temptations. This GX1 has me thinking once again... One of the reasons why I got rid of the GH2 and got the FZ150 was to have the extra reach again (my GH2's 14-140mm vs the FZ150's 24x optical zoom)... Do you guys think the new Lumix X 45-175 power zoom is any good?
moiseslua 01-11-2012, 02:03 PM Go for it Chief! :D
You may also check the 45-200, I've seen very good results even with the OlyPen E-PL3
The X logo really reminds me of the Alpha logo :D

Wow, it's even more expensive than the dual lens kit (14mm & 14-42mm)??
Anyhow, just a question to current Lumix users who may have dabbled with Olympus M43 cameras also... I noticed from virtually all review sites that Olympus SOOC/JPEG images are more vibrant compared to Lumix SOOC/JPEGs. Would anyone have particular settings for Lumix that would closely resemble Olympus JPEGs? On a similar note, I'm particularly interested in the Dramatic Art Filter of Olympus cameras... is there a comparable art filter for Lumix cameras?

the black for me.. so far, the only silvers I find more attractive than the black are the RF types like Leica M and X's and the Fuji X's.. :D DSLR's, compacts, mirrorless systems, I'd go for the black..
which's yours guys?

@benedik thanks, henry camera store at trinoma. Actually 1st try at makati but they dont have stock, then ask the store if they have stock at trinoma and lucky enough to get silver gx1.
Black is nice and common, but silver is the only stock they have and I also love the titanium color of the body and which is unique for this level.:)
I suggest someone will start a thread for Lumix Shots.
Thanks.

kikoMangaoang 02-02-2012, 02:47 AM I've been playing with my GX1 for about a week now and I just discovered a nifty trick I didn't thought would be possible. I had attached a Nikkor lens on it through an adaptor, so there is no electrical connection between the camera and the lens. I set it to aperture priority, with the WB and ISO in AUTO. To my surprise the GX1 is exposing the images properly as it would to any lens that is fully compatible with the GX1. The shutter speed, WB, and ISO are still fully automatic with a non M4/3 lens.
Lens used: Nikkor 50mm 1.8D

Will post a review in a week or so... So far, it's a mixed bag with the GX1, technicalities are solid, it's the little things that bother me with the GX1 right now, like the shutter noise... After playing with the OM-D, this GX1 is not a discreet camera.

English please per forum Regulations. Anyway there is a soft shutter sound to the camera. If you turn on "shoot w/o lens" from Custom page 7 and remove the lens, you can see a physical shutter opening and closing over the sensor. Naturally there will be a mechanical sound associated with it. Additionally, by default the camera has an electronic beeping sound. You can turn it off under setup page 1, "Beep."
ArmanConcha 02-21-2012, 07:48 AM ^^ Thanks again Kiko. I'll check that later.

Kimstore for me. 32k for the dual lens kit, Pixel Pro for the lens adapter. Like Daniel, Kim's been a long-time friend and has helped me with starting my business so I stick with her even if DB Gadgets are sometimes cheaper :)

Lei, how do you like manual focusing in this cam?
Hmm... Im a videographer so manual focusing on Dslr's is a daily thing. That said, the fringing makes it hard at times using EF lenses but stopping down the aperture helps. Im still practicing mf on this lcd so that i wont have to use mf assist magnification which just slows me down and takes the fun out of it.
Another point, i ordered a Canon FD - micro 4/3 mount so i can use my inherited lenses. Using lenses designed for MF makes things easier because the focus rings travel a long range and without dampeners found on USM lenses.

You are the only other person I've seen in this thread adapting none M4/3 lens to this cam, thus I was curious. I adapted my Nikkor lens on this guy and manually focusing seems more fun than my dslr. The lcd displays the correct dof for a given aperture compare to a dslr. It makes the subject really pops out thereby easing the focus when using high apertures. Plus I really like the electronic magnification. I had notice lots or fringing in my shots as well, but I guess I'm one of the few that kinda likes the effect of it. Thanks for your input.

i made that mistake a long time ago on a different camera. The more I touch it, the dirtier it gets. Eventually, I stop and realize it hardly makes a difference in image quality.

nicolelopez 03-11-2012, 03:19 PM hi! everyone, your photos are gorgeous! where can i buy the gx1? how much?
Paoloajero 03-11-2012, 06:08 PM I plan to sell my x100 for this. Anyway if i get the Panasonic GX1 what set is better? The Dual Kit (14mm + 14-42mm) or the more compact GX1-X (14-42mm). whats the aperture of the 14mm?
nicolelopez 03-12-2012, 09:32 PM what's the difference between GX1 and GX1x?
Paoloajero 03-12-2012, 09:45 PM sorry for the confusion .... the GX-1 14-42 "X" lens is the more compact lens compared to the standard 14-42 lens
nicolelopez 03-13-2012, 08:10 PM yeah i googled gx1x and saw that the lens 14-42 is much more compact. Great for travel which is exactly what I need! :D
Paoloajero 03-13-2012, 09:22 PM Does any sellers sell a body only for the GX1?
Lei Sarmiento 03-14-2012, 10:33 AM ^ Haven't seen a "body" only box for the GX1. I think even for the GF series.
daniel go 03-14-2012, 02:42 PM Guys, question- Are your GX1 units NTSC or PAL - Just realized mine is PAL and is wondering of it will matter or not specially if I shoot videos in MP4 format. Thanks :)
Lei Sarmiento 03-14-2012, 08:49 PM I don't know. Did you base it on your Video Out setting? There's only 1 downloadable manual and it says that the video sizes are 1920x1080, 1280x720 and 640x480 (Full HD. HD and VGA resolution respectively) regardless of NTSC or PAL settings. It will record at 25fps on all the above resolutions though which is a common PAL frame rate. (?)
nicolelopez 03-14-2012, 10:09 PM why is it that GX1x and GX1 only comes with 2 months warranty??? Even from reputable store like Henry's

I now the output from camera is switchable, I based it on the box which clearly indicates that my unit is a PAL unit.

Paoloajero 03-16-2012, 12:05 PM Olympus Ep3 or GX1 or NEX 5? Reading internet reviews I need opinions from those who where able to try these cams before buying one. I'm going more to the GX1 though ....
Lei Sarmiento 03-20-2012, 11:24 AM Among the mirror-less cams, the GX1 takes the top spot right now. Sony does have an APS-C sensor but many serious photographers will tend to stray away from the NEX's modernized, slick look. Until the Olympus OM-D comes out, I think the GX1 has the top place. For now.
moiseslua 03-20-2012, 04:48 PM If I have the money, I will not think twice on getting the NEX7 - and I think it's very popular now in that price range.

It doesn't look like the G5 or the GF5 is aimed at the OM-D. The G5 goes for the DSLR market while the GF5 goes for the mainstream high-end digicam lookers. The OM-D targets a niche market.
victor_vesuna 03-22-2012, 04:56 PM The OMD looks big and heavy to me, it looks like a conventional dslr

The e-m5 looks big on pictures but in hand, it feels small actually. The weight is just right. Not too light nor too heavy. Feels very solid in hand.
