bring plenty of water, towel, sunglass, sunblock, hats and rechargeable fans, its so hot in Taal at this time of the year unless it rains

8 Long Weekend Holidays in the Philippines in 2007
Here is a tip to save money on your next awesome travel. You should book your travel way ahead in advance especially if you plan to leverage the Philippines Holidays this year. We have longer weekend holidays this 2007 and this is the time for you to go to the best places in the Philippines!

1. Longest Holy Week Vacation.
This year's Holy Week is the longest because Easter Monday is also a holiday because it coincides with the Bataan Day (April 9, Monday). Book your travel Vacation now during the Holy Week Season: April 1, Palm Sunday and April Fool's Day to April 9, Easter Monday and Bataan Day. File your leave now for April 2, 3, 4!

2. Labor Day Holiday.
The second long holiday is from April 28, Sunday to May 1, Tuesday Labor Day. You need to file a leave for April 30 but it will be a leave well taken. Boracay is the perfect place for this long weekend so start booking your hotel in Bora! Also, remember that May is an elections month so better take your vacation before the election on May 14, 2nd Monday of May.

3. Independence Day Long Weekend.
Take advantage of June 9, Saturday to June 11, Monday (regular holiday in lieu of June 12). No need to take a vacation since this is a 3 day weekend. It starts to rain already during this time, but still a perfect time for the last minute summer getaway.

4. Ninoy Aquino Holiday.
August 21, is a special holiday which falls on a tuesday this year. So you just need to leave on August 20, and you already have a 4 day weekend from August 18, Saturday to August 21, Tuesday. It is difficult to fly during this time since this is in the middle of typhoon season. This is perfect time to start Surfing or White Water Rafting.

5. Halloween Vacation.
Yes, another 4 day weekend without taking a leave. November 1 (Thursday) All Saints' Day is a special holiday and November 2 (Friday) is a Special non-working day (Proc No. 1211). So, take advantage of the Cebu Pacific Crazy Fares during this time from Nov. 1, Thursday to November 4, Sunday. Yahoo!
6. Eidl Feitre or End of Ramadan. This is usually in November but there is no date yet. Anybody knows when the end of Ramadan this year?

7. Christmas Season 4 day Holiday.
December 24 (Monday) is declared as a Special non-working day (Proc No. 1211) and December 25 (Tuesday) Christmas Day is a regular holiday. So similar to last year, we have a 4 day Christmas holiday from December 22, Saturday to December 25, Tuesday.

8. New Year Holiday.
December 29, Saturday until January 1, Tuesday is another 4 day holiday weekend. It is best that you just take leave during the entire last week of December so enjoy an almost 12 day holiday!

Years back I tried a visita iglesia in Dolores,Quezon, the observance of Semana Santa in that place is unique and there are so many interesting places to photograph, especially at the foot of mount Banahaw,where the rain forest is still intact

Was also thinking in line with the Laguna De Bay Loop. I've done it before (but was not actively into photography then!) and there is a precious spot that overlooks the Bay. You'd think you were in a European country! Well, 2-3 passengers I can take in my old jalopy. But we can also go convoy if more are interested and have transpo.

Holy week is okay with me. I hunch though is we go before the pilgrims flock to some places (esp. churches) or otherwise hog the road. Monday or Tuesday?

I will be meeting someone on the 7th of April yun din yata ang set date ni Randall para doon sa friend niya na kukuha nung Cam, although someone will be meeting at the airport already to get some stuff :)

The real pilgrimage to Antipolo starts at midnight May 1. People/devotees go to Grotto (a replica of Our Lady of Lourdes in France) starting Maundy Thursday up to night of Friday or Saturday.

Sirs, a Rizal Province weekend roadtrip is great sana, kaso lang it almost always rains here in the afternoon. Darn you, Intertropical Convergence Zone! :Angry:

Not sure about the sunrises, Sir Bong. I haven't been to the places yet, aside from Montalban. But here in Wawa, the sunrise is obstructed by mountains. The light is a bit harsh already once the sun peeks out of the mountains. Pero pag hindi mo kukunan directly ang araw, ok naman. I posted a sunrise sample sa Wawa in the "post your pentax shots" page. Taken around 7 am na ata yon. :)

hope i can hang-out with you guys... at least i can have some time to chitchat with you some pentax's ins & outs...

I agree. In fact, I'd push to stay in San Pablo's 7 lakes (been to Mt. Makiling too often already). The time to get there and move around them would probably use up most of our day.

Oh yah, I read about the thing with the 16-45's reverse extension with wide angles having the longest lens extension causes shadowing when used with the onboard flash.

I'm going to try out wireless contrast control later with the K10D's onboard flash as commander/controller and the 540fgz as slave 1 and Larry's 360fgz as slave 2 hehe.

Oh the plan is to meet up in UP 5am for the sunrise; go to Quezon Memorial Circle after coffee and whatever. You catch up in Quezon Memorial if you don't feel like waking up at 4am. Hopefully before noon we're done and develop the film (like how many rolls would each film shooter bring?).

Question lang po, di ako masyadong familiar sa QC baka mawala ako. How do I get there and films po ba b&w lang po ang dadalin? Haven't tried b&w b4, its going to be my first time shooting b&w. :Oops:

B&W film is expensive--P275 for a brand new Kodak Tri-X 400 in Island Cubao (I think that's even cheaper than Hidalgo; I asked last time it was P285 in Quiapo)--so one is enough since half of the learning is developing it after we shoot. For reference TMax100 is P240, but remember that the ISO is only 100 vs. the Tri-X which is 400.

Because of the cost, I try to get 36/36 with my B&Ws. :RedEye:

Most likely we'll bring our DSLRs too so we'll still shoot digital especially the sunrise. For Maurene, you can bring your usual color film to augment your B&W film.

According to the weather report I heard last night, rains will continue till Thursday. Usually fair weather immediately succeeds a storm, so mukhang ok ang panahon sa Saturday. Hula ko lang. (Just my guess.) :)

Yun nga eh, we also have an EB this coming Saturday, Laguna de Bay pa naman and there is this LPA, hopefully it will just vanish,rains are ok once in a while but not the monsoons, they are more destructive than droughts and also unfriendly for photographers.

@franz: what happened ba to your camera? what's their diagnosis?

@totie: dust inside the back LCD, a hot pixel and a glitch with the AE-L button when using manual lens wherein the shutter releases and a digital preview appears... their diagnosis? Send to Japan for repairs. Have to wait 2-3 months to get it back... can I just tell them to replace it? After all, it's not like I broke it, instead it's a defect of the camera itself right? Argh!!! And to think it's just been a little over a month since I got it!

i guess that calls for a replacement as it's a camera deffect...

Are we not waiting for Mark Dimalanta to come by late August for a big Pentaxian EB? Someone should confirm that first and, in case, work around an EB with him. I just threw out this idea because of lights (strobes, flashes and klieg) going on in my head because of my Batangueño friend.

Am open to an advance party scouting out the place as well as taking advantage of those two long weekends (although if its a day-trip it doesn't really matter) for a big road trip.
