I find it easier and more effective to use the Lens Blur Filter in conjunction with an alpha channel.

hi rudy, just wondering - why do you want to blur a circular region around the face?

the above tutorial used the alpha channel too (it used 2 alpha channels).

I didn't read the tutorial :D
I just commented on how I saw the filter was used.
If its just a circular region, I could have just duplicated the layer and used a layer mask to achieve the same effect.
the above tutorial used the alpha channel too (it used 2 alpha channels).

i think i really have to buy the canon 50 mm 1.8f for my canon 300d to get a better lens blur effect for headshots.
